The early years
Masterson began acting at an early age. By the time he was eight years old, he began appearing in Broadway shows. He also appeared in many television commercials. By the time he was 16, he had appeared in over 100 commercials. His work includes ads for Kelloggs Frosted Flakes, Clorox, Tang, Clearasil, and Volkswagen. Masterson was also a child model. He appeared on the cover of a Canadian young adults dictionary and the cover of Parents magazine back in the 1970s.
In the 1990s Masterson began working as a DJ as a hobby. A few years later, his hobby became a business. He goes by the names DJ Donkey Punch and DJ Mom Jeans.
His rise to fame
Masterson made his acting debut back in 1988 in the TV series Jake and the Fatman. He played the role of Butch in the episode titled “After You’ve Gone.” He went on to have a recurring role in the TV series Joe’s Life. He played the role of Leo Gennaro. Masterson also made two appearances on the hit show Roseanne in 1994.
Masterson is best known for playing the role of Steven Hyde on That 70’s Show from 1998 to 2006. The actor made his first appearance on the big screen when he played the role of Seth in Beethoven’s 2nd. He then moved on to bigger films, playing Karl in Face/Off, alongside John Travolta and Nicholas Cage.

Masterson has a net worth of $16 million. He earned most of his money from his acting roles and DJing. The actor also earns a living from working in the restaurant industry. He owns or co-owns roughly 11 restaurants. Among them are Dolce and Geisha House, restaurants he founded with That ’70s Show co-stars Ashton Kutcher and Wilmer Valderrama, and Korean barbecue restaurant, Shin. He and celebrity stylist Ilaria Urbinati used to own a boutique named Confederacy, but it closed down in 2013.
Masterson’s career took a hit in 2017. He most recently played the role of Jameson Bennett on Netflix’s The Ranch. However, he was fired from the show in December 2017 after he was accused of sexual assault. Production of the show went on without him. Masterson said in a statement released by The Washington Post that he was innocent and had not committed a crime:
From day one, I have denied the outrageous allegations against me. Law enforcement investigated these claims more than 15 years ago and determined them to be without merit. I have never been charged with a crime, let alone convicted of one. In this country, you are presumed innocent until proven guilty. However, in the current climate, it seems as if you are presumed guilty the moment you are accused.

Although Masterson hit a snag in his career, he’s still working on a few projects. He recently finished filming Killing Winston James, in which he will play the role of Ethan Jones. He is also completing the upcoming movie In Limbo; he’ll play the role of Steve Cross.
