What is ‘Dead to Me’ about?

Created by Liz Feldman, Dead to Me is a dark comedy television series on Netflix. The show follows a grieving real estate agent named Jen, whose husband died in a hit-and-run accident. In an attempt to manage her grief, Jen attends a grief support group where she meets Judy. Despite Judy’s bubbly personality (which clearly makes Jen uncomfortable at first), the two form a close bond. In fact, they get so close that Judy moves in with her not long after their first meeting.

The series touches on grief, friendship, and a whole lot of secrets as the two navigate their emotions of anger, sadness, and guilt together (with some major bumps along the way). And, after 10 episodes, we are dying for more Jen and Judy.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the show’s creator, Liz Feldman hinted at a possible season two and even gave insight into what it might look like. “There’s an evening of the score and there’s a rebalancing that will take place and almost, in some ways, a role reversal,” she told the publication. “This show will always be a show that explores the dark sides and the light sides of grief, loss, forgiveness, and friendship. So suffice to say, there will be more darkness,” she added. Additionally, she says, if it were up to her, the show would continue on for many seasons. “It would be the pleasure and honor of my life to do this show for as many seasons as makes sense. I would do this show forever if I could.”

Feldman also hints that the Dead to Me season 1 finale is not what fans think. In the final scene, Jen appears to have shot and killed Judy’s ex-fiancé, Steve (James Marsden). But, there’s a big possibility that it wasn’t Jen who pulled the trigger. “I’ll just say that you don’t know that she shot him,” Feldman explained to The Hollywood Reporter. “Netflix will have to order a season two for us all to find out. Just like the rest of the show, it’s not exactly what you think it’s going to be.”
