Did Demi Burnett and Slater Davis Break Up? The ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ Alum Discusses Where the Relationship Is Now
For the past few days, Bachelor Nation fans have been wondering whether Demi Burnett and her boyfriend, Slater Davis, broke up. On June 20, the couple reportedly split after dating for four months. However, neither party mentioned anything on their social media accounts. But now, Burnett is opening up about her complicated relationship with Davis.
Why Bachelor Nation fans think Demi Burnett and boyfriend Slater Davis broke up
In February 2020, Burnett and Davis confirmed their relationship to the public and they made their love for one another known. But then in June 2020, Us Weekly reported that Burnett and Davis broke up. Meanwhile, Entertainment Tonight claimed the former reality star and the music artist were still figuring things out.
“They care about each other so much and are figuring things out as quarantine continues,” a source told the publication. “They are evaluating things right now, and determining what the next step in their relationship will be.”
Demi Burnett discusses split with Slater Davis on her podcast
In the June 24 episode of the Big Demi Energy podcast with guest Kathryn Dunn, Burnett confirmed her breakup with Davis in the first few minutes.
“I recently broke up with my boyfriend,” Burnett said. “I love him, I’m crazy about him. He’s wonderful and it’s just been really hard.”
Nevertheless, it seems the split was amicable. “We are wanting to work on ourselves and we are still very good friends,” Burnett continued. “It’s just never fun whenever you’re going through that.”
But later in the podcast, Burnett shared her current relationship with Davis may be a bit more complicated, as she was hesitant to call it a breakup.
“I wouldn’t necessarily declare it, as of right now, a breakup,” Burnett said. “He’s actually coming over after this because he has to bring me all my stuff back from his house.”
Demi Burnett opens up about her relationship with Slater Davis
Whatever happens between Burnett and Davis as the couple moves forward, the Bachelor in Paradise alum opened up about why things didn’t work out. Burnett shared there was a strain early on in her relationship, as she spent a lot of time with her new boyfriend due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
“We were going through it all together and it essentially messed up our relationship,” Burnett said on the Big Demi Energy podcast. “Being with someone who you just met and basically spending every day together. Both of us going stir crazy, and not being ourselves, not doing our normal routines. I think it really gets to people.”
But ultimately, Burnett suggested the lack of trust led to her split with Davis.
“It’s toxic on every level whenever you get to that point where you’re questioning everything each other’s doing,” Burnett said. “It’s a trust thing. If you can’t trust each other, you’re never gonna have a relationship.”
She continued, “I know I did everything I could to be trustworthy. I know I was up to nothing, I was always f*cking loyal. Everything was about Slater, everything was about the person I was with. But if you have trust issues, you’re still going to question everything.”
Burnett then noted she has learned from her experience with Davis. The Bachelor Nation star said:
Something that I look forward to in my next relationship — whether me and him decide to work it out or whether it’s with somebody else — it’s like, I’m with you because I trust you. I don’t need to question everything that you do. I don’t need to question you holding hands with somebody in a video. And that shouldn’t bother me.
That’s something that I definitely learned. It shouldn’t be so childish to where you just accuse each other of something all the time. And just actually let your guard down, let yourself trust somebody, which is really hard to do.
