Denise Richards Reveals What Filming Her First Season of ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ Was Really Like
The Real Housewives franchise has become a national phenomenon, with multiple spinoff shows and more drama in a single episode than most people experience in a year. It’s so addictive to watch how the other half lives – and spends their money. And when one of those Housewives happens to be an A-list actress? That’s when the fun really begins.
Backstabbing and betrayal are par for the course. But it takes a lot to phase Denise Richards, the 47-year-old actress who recently joined the RHOBH Season 9 cast. She’s been in films like Wild Things and even had her own reality show before called Denise Richards: It’s Complicated, which documented her divorce from fellow actor Charlie Sheen. Now she’s trying on the Housewives for size and things are bound to get interesting.
Denise Richards fit right in with the cast
As Richards explained during an interview with The Chicago-Tribune, she knew several of the cast members before joining the show. She was already friends with Lisa Rinna and knew Kyle Richards from before also. Plus, Beverly Hills is a small town. Richards revealed that she met Camille Grammer before and even took a mommy-and-me class with Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave in the past. Joining the cast made a lot of sense with all those familiar faces.
Nothing was off-limits during the show
When asked if any parts of her life were intentionally left out of filming, Denise Richards said that her whole life was laid bare. She wasn’t originally planning to film her wedding to Aaron Phypers, but ultimately decided to make it part of the RHOBH storyline. She said since it’s real life, and that was part of her life at the time, then why not let the cameras roll?
She doesn’t believe in the so-called ‘relationship curse’
Several married couples who were cast in the Real Housewives franchise wound up getting divorced later. When asked if she was concerned that something similar might happen to her, Richards claimed she didn’t believe in any kind of curse.
“I think those relationships probably wouldn’t have lasted anyway. I don’t think the show will make or break a relationship. I think if a relationship fails, it will fail regardless,” she said.
Richards keeps it real, like it or not
When Denise Richards was asked what she’d want viewers to know as they watch the show, her answer was frank and honest. Just like her true personality.
“I’m who I am on the show. People will either love watching me or they’ll hate watching me. I didn’t set out to try and be something I wasn’t, and I just hope that people watch the show and are entertained by it.”
It’ll be entertaining to watch it all unfold!
