Dennis Quaid Perfectly Shuts Down Haters Trolling Him About His Younger Fiancee
Dennis Quaid is just one of those actors you have to love. He has starred in such movies as The Parent Trap, A Dog’s Purpose, and the 2005 remake of the Lucille Ball classic: Yours, Mine, and Ours. And let’s not forget, he was once married to America’s sweetheart, Meg Ryan.
The actor has a new show coming out on Netflix, Merry Happy Whatever. But while the show is Quaid’s first-ever sitcom, it’s not the sitcom that has everybody talking, it’s another recent announcement that people just can’t stop buzzing about.
Who is Dennis Quaid seeing?
The actor has been married three times before. In the late 80s, Quaid was married to actress P.J. Soles.
After the two got divorced, Quaid married Ryan in 1991. The two finalized their divorce 10 years later.
In 2004, the actor married again, this time to real estate agent, Kimberly Buffington. But they divorced in 2016.
In mid-2019, the actor was spotted with a new woman: Ph.D. student Laura Savoie. This one raised a few eyebrows because of their rather large age difference — Quaid is 65 and Savoie is 26.
The two apparently met while the attended the same business event. But if people were writing off the relationship because of the serious age gap, they were about to be in for a surprise.
Dennis Quaid is getting married — again
It’s always the big proposals that get the attention, but sometimes it’s the little gestures that just make your heart melt. During a recent appearance on Good Morning America, the hosts asked Quaid how he popped the question.
Quaid started out by telling them that they were on the North Shore of Oahu — we know, another rich actor proposing in Hawaii, what’s special about that? But the actor didn’t set up some elaborate event with Marc Anthony singing in the background. He kept it simple.
The Parent Trap actor says that he and Savoie were simply taking a selfie on the beach. She pulled out her phone and put it in front of them. Then, the actor slyly slipped the ring right in front of the phone. The actor says his fiancee fainted on demand. Guess that’s a yes!
Dennis Quaid is shutting down haters about their age gap
The couple’s engagement took the internet by storm. Savvy internet users quickly mashed up memes comparing his relationship to the May-December romance portrayed by Quaid and co-star Elaine Hendrix in The Parent Trap.
During the movie, which co-starred Lindsay Lohan, Lohan’s character mocked the relationship between her dad and his new fiancee, saying that the woman was young enough to be her sister (mind you, Lohan was about 12 at the time).
But the actor says he’s not angry about the talk about the couple’s age difference — he actually thinks that the memes are quite funny. Quaid recently told The Guardian: “That was really a laugh … I thought it was wonderful, actually.”
The 65-year-old father to three says he didn’t go out looking for someone younger, adding that he doesn’t fall in love easily. The actor acknowledged that he has been married three times before, but knows this one’s different.
He said: “I’ve been married three times and this is the final one, I know it is. I feel like I have a real partner in life.”
As for where the couple might get married, there’s actually a funny story that goes with that one. Apparently, Quaid and his new fiancee visited the vineyard where The Parent Trap was filmed. The owners asked if the couple wanted to get married there. When Quaid was asked whether he actually intended to get married there, you guessed it — the actor responded: “Well, wouldn’t you? For sure!”
