Denzel Washington Raps His Favorite Cardi B Song In This Hilarious, Recently Unearthed Video

A video of Denzel Washington showing love to Cardi B has gone viral on Twitter (again).

During the week of Dec. 1, social media users unearthed a video of Washington admitting to loving the “I Like It” crooner and her music. To prove it, he recited a few of her lyrics while impersonating Cardi B’s voice. It was so good that it quickly went viral — and it’s happening again now.

Denzel Washington shares his favorite Cardi B song in this video

In July 2018, Washington appeared on Grey Goose’s video series, Off Script, a show hosted by Jamie Foxx that celebrates actors and the iconic moments in film that inspired them.

Around the 4:25 mark, Washington and Foxx started talking about The Wizard of OZ. The Training Day actor mentioned how he’d just watched the film and how much he loved Judy Garland’s voice. “That child can sing,” he exclaimed before singing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.”

Foxx joined in and switched the lyrics to include Cardi B’s name. Washington followed up by adding a “Bodak Yellow” reference, which shocked Foxx.

“Oh, you think I don’t know,” Washington said before belting out the lyrics, “I give him whatever he want/He buy me Yves Saint Laurent and a new whip.”

When Foxx asked him to rap the lyrics in Cardi B’s voice, he obliged, repeating the words in a high-pitched voice.

“Denzel really is the greatest,” someone mused on Twitter in a Dec. 3 tweet.

Another person added, “Cardi is a vibe so I get it!!!”

“It’s like watching my dad be cool for the first time ever,” a third person tweeted on Dec. 4.

Seeing Washington rap the song may come as a shock to some. But it’s hard not to know it. “Bodak Yellow” was everywhere in 2017 and 2018. It’s the single that put Cardi B on the map, topped the Billboard charts, and earned her a Grammy nod.

Denzel Washington once gave advice to Cardi B

In April 2018, Washington did an interview with The Root in which he offered some important advice to the Invasion of Privacy rapper.

He told her: “Don’t believe the hype. Stay true to yourself. Keep it real — for real.”

It seems that Cardi B has taken that advice to heart. She is unapologetically herself and walks to the beat of her drum at all times. She’s as unfiltered and bubbly as she was when she broke out on Love & Hip Hop: New York in 2015.

In August, Cardi B teamed up with Reebok for a commercial in which she spoke about the importance of staying true to herself.

“I just thought I was weird because everyone keep telling me I’m weird,” she said in the clip (via Us Weekly). “But when I started doing videos on Instagram and so many people claimed they relate to me, I was like I guess there was a lot of weird people out there!”

She also opened up about the criticism she receives for her speech, saying that it used to hurt her feelings.

“A lot of people always talking about how I talk,” she said. “I have a very deep accent, and I started feeling real insecure about it, but it’s like, ‘Nah, forget it.’ I gotta be real with myself all the time. That’s what I gotta do to stay me.”

Indeed. After all, that’s what makes people love her — Washington included.
