Derick Dillard Alarmed Instagram Followers With an Insulting Hashtag to Describe Jill Duggar
We’ve been following the Duggar family for years, and it’s Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard who remain the most fascinating. According to Dillard’s Instagram comments he left at the end of 2019, he and Jill aren’t very close with Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar. And the couple was allegedly pressured into filming Counting On by TLC and Jim Bob despite them wishing to step away from the cameras.
Jill and her husband aren’t featured on Counting On anymore. And they actually met through Jim Bob, as he found Dillard to be a responsible and loving Chris follower fit for marrying one of his daughters. And while Dillard is gaining some fans for speaking against Jill’s family, some of his social media content is still quite problematic. A post on Feb. 9 on his Instagram includes a hashtag that had many of his followers angry.
Derick Dillard talked a lot about how he keeps his marriage healthy
Many of the Duggars choose to court briefly and marry young, and Jill was no exception. she married her husband back in 2014. Today, they have two children together and frequently post loving photos and videos of each other online. And they’ve even both posted their own personal advice to the Dillard Family Blog regarding how others can maintain a healthy marriage like they do.
“Anyways, like most couples when they get married, we were head over heels for each other…and now, nearly five years later, I can happily say that we are still very much in love,” Dillard shared on June 3, 2019.
From there, he included plenty of advice for wives, which includes “have sex often” and “pray and fast for your husband.” Dillard also recommended that wives make the home “a haven of rest and relaxation to come home to,” as that’s something husbands enjoy after a long, hard day at work.
Jill Duggar frequently posts about how much she adores her husband
Dillard posts plenty about Jill, but Jill posts even more. From visiting him at law school to drop off homemade treats to having date nights with him several times a month without the kids, Jill is all about making alone time for her husband. And she gives her Instagram followers plenty of insight into their dates, too.
Back in June 2019, Jill posted photos of her and Dillard for their five-year anniversary. The photos showed the two of them in Branson, Montana, going out to eat and seeing live music. And Jill even featured a book on kama sutra in her post, which many followers think gave away way too much information on their personal relationship.
Later in 2019, Jill also posted photos of her and her husband kissing. And she noted she started “counting up” the days after her wedding she could keep track of every single day she’s been happily married to the man of her dreams.
Dillard used ‘#womanswork’ to describe Jill on Instagram
Jill and her husband may enjoy the way they live their lives, but it’s clear they still abide by traditional gender roles. Dillard posted a photo of Jill doing the dishes with their son on her back. “Baby Sam helping Jill in the kitchen,” Dillard captioned the post. And he added the hashtags “#teachemyoung,” “#ergobaby,” and “#womanswork,” with the latter offending many followers.
“Not so sure the woman’s work hashtag is the best hashtag,” one follower commented.
“Jill is cooking with a child strapped to her back while you have the luxury of standing there watching and taking a picture on your phone …….. maybe try HELPING her!” another added.
“Hashtag ‘woman’s work’? Wow and I was rooting for you too….,” yet another commented.
It seems Jill doesn’t mind the hashtag, though. She commented on the photo with a crying-laughing emoji and “‘Baby’ Sam…. #womanswork.”
Jill’s fans may be up in arms over the comment, but this sort of gendered talk shouldn’t be too surprising. However, it may have just lost the family some serious support.
