Derick Dillard Posted a Photo of Jessa Duggar’s Baby to Instagram, and Fans Are Concerned
We’ve been watching the Duggar family for years, and it’s hard to believe how fast the teens we once watched on 19 Kids and Counting have grown. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar have 19 kids, and many of the Duggars who have reached adulthood are now married and having kids of their own. And thanks to TLC’s Counting On, we get to keep up with the growing family.
Most recently, Jessa Duggar just had her third child and first baby girl, and Duggar fans are ecstatic. Jessa’s sister, Jill (who we never see on Counting On due to her husband, Derick Dillard’s, controversial Twitter activity), has also posted her happy thoughts about the newborn, and Derick has added how excited he is to meet his niece as well. Unfortunately, it seems one Instagram photo Derick posted of Jessa’s newborn is alarming fans.
Jessa Duggar just gave birth to a baby girl
There are multiple Duggar women pregnant at the moment, but Jessa seemed to start the trend nine months ago when she announced she was pregnant with her first baby girl. Us Weekly reports she gave birth to Ivy Jane on May 26, and the newborn was just 7 pounds 14 ounces. As Jessa and her husband, Ben Seewald, told the publication, “She feels so tiny compared to her siblings.”
The couple’s over the moon to have a new baby in the home, and we’re sure they’re happy it was such a quick and easy birth compared to what Jessa went through in the past, too. The Duggar women have notoriously difficult births, and while they typically try for home births, it’s not uncommon for them to have to be rushed to the hospital when things go awry. Thankfully, Jessa told Us Weekly that giving birth to Ivy was “very quick. My water broke at 8:30 in the morning, but I didn’t have any contractions until 2:30 in the afternoon. Then she was born at 6:00. So really just three and a half hours of labor.”

There’s no doubt the Duggars love kids, as many of the older members of the family already have a number of children of their own. Jill Duggar, Jessa’s older sister, also posted a photo of her holding baby Ivy. “Congrats @jessaseewald and @ben_seewald on little Ivy Jane! 💕Love her so much and love the name! Such a little doll!” Jill captioned the Instagram post.
Jill’s fans also commented on the photo the happy aunt posted of baby Ivy. “So happy for Jessa and Ben what a beautiful precious family,” one fan wrote. And another wondered if holding the newborn was going to influence if Jill and Derick would decide to add another baby to their family. “She’s beautiful!! Are you getting baby fever Jill???” another fan questioned on Jill’s photo. Yet another mentioned, “Derrick looks good with that little girl in his arms!!”
Fans grew concerned by a photo Derick posted of the baby to Instagram
Derick has a long and sordid history with the Duggars, so it was a joy to see him holding his newborn niece as well. He added a photo set on Instagram that included a photo of him and baby Ivy. Unfortunately, fans noticed something was off about Ivy’s skin tone, and they took to the comments to write about it. “Why Is that baby so purple?” one fan questioned. And another added, “Curious why your baby is soo red?” While the facial redness on Ivy is more pronounced on Derick’s photo, another fan also noticed something was off with Jill’s photo of her holding Ivy, too. “Baby looks very red,” a fan commented.
Jessa and Ben haven’t mentioned any reason for Ivy’s redness, so it may just be the way the photos are taken, too. A fan on Derick’s Instagram mentioned this point, as they said “i think Derrick just intensify the color a little bit if you look on Jill’s page she has the same picture in the baby’s face is not purple [sic].” Unfortunately, some think Jessa’s choice to have a home birth may have something to do with it, too. Another followed added, “probably because they do dangerous home births and have no medical care whatsoever, so there’s more than likely something wrong with the baby and they wouldn’t even know because they are completely negligent … [sic].”
No matter what, we’re hoping baby Ivy is a happy and healthy little girl, and we can’t wait to see more photos as they come!
