To some fans of Disney Channel, Cameron Boyce’s sudden passing was a heavy loss. Descendants cast members, including Sofia Carson, China Anne McClain, and Dove Cameron shared their feelings on social media. During an interview with Good Morning America, Dove Cameron, Booboo Stewart, and Kenny Ortega discussed the success of their upcoming movie, Descendants 3. When the conversation shifted to co-star Cameron Boyce, the cast members described him as a “light” on the set.

“I think that as absolutely heartbreaking as this one is, it is a personal loss for so many young people who watch Disney,” Dove Cameron said. “I truly think the best thing we can do for them is to remember Cameron exactly as he was in — in the most positive light — but not to avoid it.”

Director Kenny Ortega chimed in, staying that he had “been alive long enough to, to have witnessed some pretty tough stuff.”

“This was as tough as it gets,” Ortega continued. “I didn’t realize that I had as deep a place for pain to come from, that the shock and awe of this unfathomable idea of losing this beautiful soul, with such promise to this world, could possibly be real.”

To carry on his legacy, Cameron Boyce’s family started a non-profit organization in his name, the Cameron Boyce Foundation. Director Kenny Ortega mentioned the organization in the interview, as well.
