Actress Billie Lourd has been through a lot these past few years. Although she is only 27 years old, Lourd has experienced the death of two loved ones while being in the public eye.

Things have no doubt been difficult for her, but life seems to be turning around Lourd. She recently announced that she is taking on a special role on a TV show that has a lot of meaning for her. Read on below to find out more of Lourd’s exciting new project.

Billie Lourd was born on July 17, 1992, to a family full of influential people in the entertainment industry. Her mother is Carrie Fisher, who is best known for playing Princess Leia in the Star Wars franchise.

Meanwhile, Lourd’s maternal grandparents are actress Debbie Reynolds and singer Eddie Fisher. She also has famous godparents as well: actress Meryl Streep and writer Bruce Wagner.

Billie Lourd lost her mother and grandmother in 2016

While Lourd seemed like she had it all on the surface, things went downhill in 2016. On December 27 of that year, her mother, Carrie Fisher, passed away from a heart attack related to drug use. The next day, Lourd’s grandmother, Debbie Reynolds, had a stroke and subsequently passed away as well.

It’s clear that life has not been easy for Lourd, but she has been open about how she copes with the death of two loved ones. In 2017, she shared with Town & Country that she and her family use humor to get through everything.

“If life’s not funny, then it’s just true — and that would be unacceptable,” she said. “Even when (mom) died, that was what got me through that whole thing. When Debbie died the next day, I could just picture her saying, ‘Well, she’s upstaging me once again, of course — she had to.'”

In 2018, Lourd also revealed that being on American Horror Story was a healing experience as well. “When Ryan [Murphy] offered me Cult, it was just a few months after my mom passed, and it honestly helped me process all of my emotions through these characters,” she said. “Being able to cry for Winter helped me cry for myself.”

Billie Lourd will appear on ‘Will & Grace’ as the granddaughter of Debbie Reynolds’ character

Another healing experience for Lourd is perhaps Will & Grace. It has been announced that fans will soon get to see her guest star on the show as Fiona Adler, the granddaughter of Bobbie Adler, who was portrayed by Debbie Reynolds from 1999 to 2006. Fiona is also the niece of Grace Adler, who is played by Debra Messing.

When the news was announced, Lourd took social media to share that she used to watch Will & Grace as a child, and this news is very exciting for her. She wrote: “Getting to watch my grandma play Grace’s mom was one o’ the coolest things to happen to my young willandgraceobsessed self. Next week I get to play my real life grandma’s on screen granddaughter on one of my favorite shows and there are not enough happy adjectives in the world to convey the excitement I feel.”

As reported by Deadline, the episode was taped on September 25 and follows Fiona as she tries to reconnect with her aunt, Grace. Co- creator/executive producer Max Mutchnick also shared that the episode was “meaningful” for Lourd and everyone else.

It’s important to note that this was not the first time Lourd got to follow in her family members’ footsteps. Since 2015, she has appeared in Star Wars films as Lieutenant Connix.
