Did Abbi Murphy From ‘Below Deck’ Actually Get Married?

When deckhand Abbi Murphy from Below Deck received her text message proposal, she seemed to be a little shocked but happy.

The pint-sized deckhand was eating and texting with her boyfriend Patrick. She realized that even though she was surrounded by attractive men on the yacht, her heart belonged to her boyfriend, Patrick who was still in Greece. The two started with a casual text exchange until there it was … he proposed and she couldn’t believe it.

She took a few minutes to digest the proposal and then shared the good news with stews Simone Mashile and Courtney Skippon. While the stews looked thrilled for her, Skippon made a sarcastic comment in a confessional. “To get engaged, via text? Someone who you are with for two years all of a sudden tells you he loves you? Via text? My eyes are rolling all the way off the boat,” she says.

Did they go through with it?

Murphy proudly shared that she and her betrothed did indeed marry. “Yes… we actually got married,” Murphy shared to Instagram along with a sweet photo of the couple.

“The wedding was at a town hall in Plymouth, MA. We are wearing home-made rope rings made by my dad’s gf’s elementary school student,” she continued. “My dad was there and it was a beautiful, meaningful and simple ceremony. We didn’t want or need a fancy wedding because we only needed each other in that moment. Now we are happy, sailing, living in Greece❤️”

Fans and friends filled the post with congratulatory comments. One person shared her story of a whirlwind romance that turned into a marriage. “When you know, you know. My husband and I met while working on cruise ships. We spent the first 18mths of our relationship more apart than together and we got engaged after “only” 8 mths-3 of those mths we were together in the same ship. We’ve been together for 13yrs, married 11. Your fairytale is beautiful, congratulations!!”

The rest of the crew reacts

When Murphy tells chief stew Kate Chastain, she commented with her signature humor. “Millennials are so cute,” Chastain said in a confessional. “Not ‘Look at this big presentation, I’m such a good proposer.’ It’s like, ‘Hey, you wanna get dinner later and maybe spend the rest of your life with me?'”

After Chastain made the comment about millennials, a Twitter user observed, “Lol Kate you are a millennial too.” Chastain responded, “Ya hear that Tanner.” Of course, Chastain loved Skippon’s reaction to Murphy’s announcement too. “Courtney’s reaction to Abby’s engagement announcement is my favorite thing ever.” Skippon tweeted about why she reacted the way she did. “My entire face is the reason I’ve never bothered telling lies.”When someone joked about Mashile’s response, she replied, “Hahahahahaha I tried.”

Captain Lee Rosbach also reacted to news of the engagement on Twitter. “Who in the world proposes in a text message, and who accepts in the same way. Must be soulmates.” Chastain wrote, “Captain lee always come through with his succinct wisdom.” Of course, the deck team seemed shocked. Bosun Ashton Pienaar remarked how he was confused since he tried to hook up with Murphy only days earlier.
