Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson made a charming couple when they got together in 2018. Davidson, a Saturday Night Live comedian, and Grande, a pop diva, seemed to fall in love instantly. The fact that the couple shared multiple, matching tattoos in honor of each other, and rushed into cohabitation seemed to bode well for a long, loving relationship.
Unfortunately, their relationship ended in the fall of 2018. At that time, the two seemed to be on good terms. Davidson joked about the split on SNL, and Grande penned the song Thank U, Next for her album of the same name. But, Grande likes having a partner by her side, although she has said that only two of her lovers remain close to her heart.
Ariana Grande’s tragic loss of Mac Miller
Before dating Davidson, Grande was with rapper, songwriter, and record producer Mac Miller. At the age of twenty-six, Miller was found dead in his San Fernando Valley home. He had died from a drug overdose. Miller seemed to be working through his addictions, anxieties, and rehabilitations, but somehow, he did not conquer them. Miller and Grande were together for two years. His death was an earth-shakingly painful experience for the pop singer.
Ariana Grande’s engagement with Pete Davidson
Grande’s time with Davidson was terrific, according to the diva. She added that frivolity and insanity were tremendous medicine for her wounded soul. The relationship seemed, at the time, to buoy up the singer’s trauma due to memories of Miller when she headlined at Coachella.
She was also still healing from the horrific suicide bomber detonation at her concert in Manchester, England. In an interview with Vogue Magazine, Grande attempted to explain herself:
“I have to be the luckiest girl in the world, and the unluckiest, for sure. I’m walking this fine line between healing myself and not letting the things that I’ve gone through be picked at before I’m ready, and also celebrating the beautiful things that have happened in my life and not feeling scared that they’ll be taken away from me because trauma tells me that they will be, you know what I mean?”
Did Ariana Grande throw shade at her ex?
In her Vogue interview, Grande says she realized she was dating to be distracted from her pain and refers to Davidson as an “amazing distraction.” This comment may initially seem shady, but Grande elaborates on her relationship with Davidson.
“My friends were like, ‘Come! We’re gonna have a fun summer.’ And then I met Pete, and it was an amazing distraction,” she said. “It was frivolous and fun and insane and highly unrealistic, and I loved him, and I didn’t know him. I’m like an infant when it comes to real life and this old soul, been-around-the-block-a-million-times artist.”
In reality, shade has been detected by many from both Grande and Davidson. The accusation on Grande’s side relates to her response to a comment Davidson made on SNL. Davidson jokingly proposed to that week’s musical guest, Maggie Rogers. The singer-songwriter declined, to which Davidson responded “0 for 3.” The comic banter referred to his failed relationship with Grande. The third allusion may have pointed to Cazzie David, daughter of Larry David of Curb Your Enthusiasm fame.
After this interchange, Grande went to Twitter, as well. She tweeted:
“for somebody who claims to hate relevancy u sure love clinging to it huh.”
Even though the tweet disappeared almost immediately, fans got the picture. One of Grande’s followers put it this way: Davidson uses Grande’s name and their previous relationship to remain relevant.
Do Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson still like each other?
Davidson was dating actress Kate Beckinsale after Grande, which would suggest that he is doing fine. Additionally, Davidson has spoken kindly of Grande since their coupling ended. Grande is now on her Sweetener World Tour which began on March 18, 2019, and will conclude on December 22, 2019. In between these dates, she will travel to 40 cities in the US and several European cities (e.g., the UK, Amsterdam, Paris, Dublin).
Grande’s reviews have been tremendous. Seems she, too, is doing just fine.
