Did Christina El Moussa Have a Formal Design Education? What She Studied in College
HGTV star and popular personality Christina El Moussa has been the subject of many a headline article – from her tumultuous relationship with her now ex-husband Tarek El Moussa to her trendy style sense, fans can’t get enough of this California girl. But even more interesting than her relationship dramas and relatable parenting moments, it’s how Christina El Moussa became a star that really grabs the attention. Her rise to house-flipping stardom was full of hard work and determination, as a review of her early life will show.
What did Christina El Moussa study in college?
Born in Anaheim, California, in 1983, Christina El Moussa studied business and design in college and became so enamored of the real estate industry that she wasted no time getting to work right after graduation. She met her future husband Tarek El Moussa while they were both working at a California real estate office.
The couple was married in 2009, and shortly after, started their profitable real estate group. Discovering that they shared a passion for house “flipping,” that is, purchasing less-than-desirable properties and renovating them in order to sell at a profit, their business shifted to include construction and design. Then, in 2011, the El Moussas spontaneously decided to film the process of flipping one of their houses, from start to finish. They sent the audition tape to several production companies, and soon, home improvement network HGTV took notice. By 2013, Flip or Flop, starring Tarek and Christina El Moussa, was catching the interest of fans everywhere.
What Christina El Moussa does on ‘Flip or Flop’
Christina and Tarek El Moussa have their business dynamic down to an exacting science – Tarek monitors construction and demolition work, while Christina manages the overall design, and is in charge of how the spaces inside the home flow together. She utilizes her background in interior design to ensure that the homes look beautiful while appealing to a wide home buying audience.
But while the El Moussa’s worked on their thriving business and TV show, their personal lives were suffering. In 2013, Tarek El Moussa discovered that he had Stage 3 thyroid cancer, which made the possibility of a sibling for their daughter Taylor, born in 2010, look bleak. Through in vitro fertilization, Christina El Moussa was able to become pregnant but suffered a miscarriage. In 2015, another round of IVF was successful, and she gave birth to their son, Brayden James.
The stress had taken a toll, however, and in 2016, the El Moussas announced their separation. They filed for divorce in 2017, and the divorce was finalized in 2018. The couple continues to co-parent successfully, as well as continue to work together on Flip or Flop.

Set to premiere in 2019, this new show would focus solely on design, and allow El Moussa to work with couples that want to give their homes a bright new look.
A new show isn’t the only exciting thing in El Moussa’s life – in 2017, she began dating British TV host Ant Anstead. From luxurious vacations to enthusiastic posts on social media, the camera-ready couple definitely isn’t shy about letting the public know how crazy they are about each other.
With a brand-new season of Flip or Flop set to debut in early 2019, as well as a starring role in Christina on the Coast, Christina El Moussa has her sights set higher than ever. El Moussa is certain to have her fair share of exciting revelations and business opportunities yet to come!
