Did Jill Duggar Get Angry With Husband Derick Dillard After He Was Removed From ‘Counting On’?
Whether you find them strange, fascinating, or a mixture of both, there’s no doubt the Duggars continue to draw attention to themselves the longer they’re on TV. They attained fame thanks to Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, two ultra-strict Christians who wanted to share their way of life and their 19 kids with the reality TV world. Nowadays, Jim Bob and Michelle have taken a backseat to some of their famous children, however. And Jill Duggar along with her controversial husband, Derick Dillard, are often the center of attention.
While plenty of the Duggars are featured on TLC’s Counting On, Jill and Derick are notably missing, and this is because Derick got them fired from the show. So, is Jill upset with her husband for how he got them removed? Here’s what we know.
TLC fired Derick after he wrote a series of hateful posts on Twitter
Derick has never been shy about sharing his viewpoints on social media. People reports his outspoken nature got him in serious hot water with TLC, however, as he posted hateful tweets regarding transgender network star, Jazz Jennings. When the network tweeted promotional material for Jazz’s show, I Am Jazz, Derick tweeted back, “What an oxymoron … a ‘reality’ show which follows a non-reality.” He then added, “‘Transgender’ is a myth. Gender is not fluid; it’s ordained by God.” Not only that, but Derick also flung homophobic comments at Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent from Nate & Jeremiah by Design by calling them a “travesty of a family.”
TLC immediately wanted nothing to do with Derick and Jill after Derick’s Twitter outbursts, either. The network issued a statement to People that said, “Derick Dillard’s personal statement does not represent the views of TLC,” and they promptly removed him from the show after that.
Jill seemed to support Derick with this one Instagram post
Derick’s Twitter rage didn’t just affect him, as it also affected Jill. While sisters Jessa, Jana, and Joy-Anna, and Jinger were all still happily on Counting On, Jill also seemed to be guilty by association and thus removed along with Derick. Many likely expected that Jill would be upset with TLC’s decision or with her husband. But judging from what she posted on Instagram, it seems she stands with Derick and only attempted to keep the peace.
To Instagram roughly a week after the firing, Jill posted, “To disagree doesn’t = hate, or judgement. Love doesn’t always = approval. Just because I disagree with my child on something doesn’t mean I hate him, and just because I love and forgive him doesn’t mean I approve of everything he does.” While some of her fans appreciate her post, others kept adding to the backlash. “Girl, your husband need to stop judging others. Aren’t y’all ‘Christians’ .. Christians don’t judge others,” commented one Instagram user. And another added, “Imma be honest with you Jill, you could do a lot better than Derrick.”
Fans still wish Jill was on Counting On, however
Jill may stand by her husband and subtly claim he wasn’t being hateful on Twitter, but either way, fans still want her back on the show. In Touch Weekly notes one fan posted to Instagram comments, “The show is NOT the same without you!” And another person asked specifically when Jill was coming back with no mention of Derick whatsoever.
While fewer fans have asked about Derick, it seems he still believes he’s in the right. The publication notes the controversial star commented on Instagram, “My view is no different than most Americans, but I just mentioned it.” Either way, it’s highly unlikely we’ll ever see Derick back on the show — and since he’s the man of the house, we can’t imagine she’ll ever stray from his side and be back on Counting On, either.
