Did Kate Middleton and Prince William Ignore 1 Huge Chance to Be Environmentally Friendly?
However, Kate and William were once given a chance to set an example for sustainable living, but the couple did not take that up. Read on below to find out what happened.
An organization urged Kate Middleton and Prince William to not have more than two kids
In 2017, fans everywhere were speculating on whether or not Kate and William would welcome another baby into their family. The couple was already parents to two children: George (born 2013) and Charlotte (born 2015).
Instead of joining in on the excitement, an organization called Having Kids, which promotes sustainable living, decided to urge the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to strongly consider not having another child.
“Large families are not sustainable,” Executive Director President, Anne Green Carter Dillard wrote in an open letter to Kate and William, as reported by Hello!. “Many studies… show family planning has the most potential for mitigating climate change and its impacts. The future of your country will be defined by the impacts of climate change.”
Dillard also suggested a different alternative for the couple, “Rather than having a third or more children, families (should) consider forgoing another child and taking part of the substantial resources saved to help a different family plan a fair start in life for their child.”
In 2018, Kate and William ended up welcoming their son Louis into the world.
Will Kate Middleton and Prince William have another child?
Neither Kate nor William has confirmed they plan to have another child, but that hasn’t stopped fans from speculating. Since Queen Elizabeth had four kids, some people believe Kate and William could follow in her footsteps.
Kate has admitted to occasionally feeling “broody” when she sees adorable kids. However, she also said her husband would be “a little worried” if they had another child.
It should be noted that the Duchess of Cambridge often experiences difficult pregnancies due to a condition called Hyperemesis Gravidarum, which causes severe nausea and vomiting. As such, it could be understandable if she simply does not want to get pregnant again for this reason.
Prince Harry once said he wants at most two kids
While Kate and William seem okay with having a big family, Prince Harry has expressed his desire to not have many kids.
In a talk with Dr. Jane Goodall in 2019, Harry revealed the amount of children he would have is “two, maximum.”
However, some onlookers have pointed out that his wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex could potentially conceive twins, which means they would end up having three kids. Of course, on the other hand, Harry and Meghan might just choose to not conceive again at all.
