Did Meghan Markle Make Prince Harry Drop All His Platonic Female Friends?

Long before Prince Harry settled down with Meghan Markle, he was an active member of London’s social scene. As a young lad, Harry was often photographed out and about with friends as well as partying in various clubs. Even when his brother, Prince William, got married to a college sweetheart, Harry was still living the bachelor life.

Of course, that was quite a while ago and Harry is a different person now. There’s no doubt that getting married has given Harry’s social circle a bit of a shake-up. But does that mean that Harry also gave up his platonic female friends that he used to hang out with? Was it something that Meghan made him do? Here’s what we know.

Prince Harry definitely had friends of different genders. He was known as a very sociable and charming guy, so he bonded with many people that he met. Particularly, Harry did have several female friends, some of whom were also rumored to have romantic relationships with him.

For example, he knew Natalie Pinkham, a presenter on Sky Sports, for more than 10 years. She was reportedly a “drinking buddy” who he enjoyed spending time with. Even though there were all sorts of rumors that they might have hooked up, Pinkham always maintained that they were just platonic friends.

Another person Harry had been linked to is Astrid Harbord, a friend of Kate Middleton’s. In 2009, the two of them was caught at a club together before going back to Harry’s apartment.

Harry was also close to several famous female singers, such as Natalie Imbruglia, Ellie Goulding, and Molly King.

Did Prince Harry end his friendships with many women after getting married?

Despite being reportedly close to many women, quite a few of them were not invited to Harry and Meghan’s wedding.

Pinkham, who had been friends with Harry for a long time, did not get the invitation to either the wedding ceremony or the reception. “Natalie was a bit surprised not to be there,” an insider said at the time. “She and Harry still talk so it was a surprise for her not to be invited at all.”

Harbord was not there either, despite also being close with other royal family members. Similarly, the famous female celebrity friends — like Natalie Imbruglia, Ellie Goulding, and Molly King — were not seen.

This led some onlookers to believe that Harry might have phased a lot of female friends out of his life.

Did Meghan Markle make Prince Harry drop these female friends?

People have also questioned whether it was because of Meghan that Harry no longer talks to old friends of his. A source close to Pinkham revealed that her friendship with Harry did begin to go stale when he got with Meghan.

“They were super close but it was purely platonic,” the source told The Sun. “When Harry got together with Meghan their relationship rapidly changed — it just went flat and noticeably cooled off.”

However, the source shared that Pinkham is not quick to point her finger at Meghan since it could also be the case of security tightening in the palace.

It’s worth noting that there have been reports that old friends of Harry, particularly the ones that he used to party with, are not huge fans of Meghan. Her love for wellness, healthy eating, and yoga at dawn has put her at odds with pals who would prefer to see the prince party until the early hours with them.

Thus, it’s hard to tell whether Harry has dropped some friends because Meghan told him to or because his new, healthier lifestyle simply does not mesh with theirs.
