Did Megyn Kelly Analyze a Trump Tweet on Her New Show’s Debut?

The host went on to say, “Then we will be dissecting the latest tweet from President Trump,” adding quickly, “Oh no. We will not be doing that. The truth is, I am kind of done with politics for now … You know why, right? We all feel it. It’s everywhere, and it’s gotten so dark, and I think it’s over.” Audience members cheered and clapped to show their support. (Kelly and Trump’s well-known feud began during the first Republican presidential debate when Kelly commented on Trump’s treatment of women.)

Kelly went on to tell the audience that for the new show, every day “we are going to be talking about stories that have caught our attention,” adding that topics discussed would be “things that you’re going to be talking about over dinner tonight or over coffee with friends,” inserting a joke, “or over a double martini before noon. Who am I to judge? It’s inappropriate.”

NBC had posted a promo for the show before its debut.

Kelly, 46, told the New York City audience members they would be able to “have a laugh with us, a smile, and sometimes a tear.” Her mother and husband were in the audience. She provided an emotional story of her father dying of a sudden heart attack, when she was 15 years old, ten days before Christmas. She referred to the incident as “the single most devastating event of my lifetime.”

During the show, the “Will & Grace” cast spoke of the return of the hit show, including how it felt to come back to to the set after more than a decade. (“Awesome.”) Cast members said that while they had kept in touch, they had not all been in a room together for 10 years. The new show premieres Sept. 28.

Actor Sean Hayes took to Twitter to share a photo of Kelly and the “Will and Grace” cast.

Kelly shared a celebratory glass of orange juice with other NBC talk hosts after the show wrapped up.
