Did Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Get Permission For Their ITV Doc?
Millions of fans tuned in recently to see Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s ITV documentary. We sat on the edge of our seats as the royal couple got brutally honest regarding how they are feeling about life in the spotlight, as well as even more personal issues including their relationships with other members of the royal family.
We all know Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry have been treated somewhat unfairly by the news media in recent months, and it is really no secret that they are looking to escape all of the drama that they are currently experiencing. In the midst of all of the chaos, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have also announced that they are involved in two lawsuits for phone hacking and for the British tabloids’ bullying of Meghan.
Given that most of these issues were talked about in-depth while on camera, we have to wonder: Did the duke and duchess get permission for their ITV documentary?
What was the documentary about?
The documentary followed Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan‘s recent tour of Africa. According to Town & Country, fans were given a close look at how the duke and duchess are living their royal life, and how things haven’t exactly been fair or easy.
We were shown how Markle is struggling with her new, extremely high-profile life, and how she is dealing with the pressures of being a new royal mom. She even went so far to admit that she is “vulnerable” and that hasn’t been asked by many people how she is doing. If anything, the documentary helped fans to see the royal couple in a new light, coming to the realization that they are so much more like us than we ever before thought.
When it came to Prince Harry’s turn to speak, he addressed the months-long speculation that there is some sort of a rift going on between himself and his older brother, Prince William. The duke admitted that the two of them are currently on different paths, but also said that they will “always be brothers.”
How do the members of the royal family feel about the documentary?
The members of the royal family are notoriously private, never really opening up about personal issues. One person who was famous for doing this was Princess Diana, and it wasn’t exactly well-received by the rest of the royals. So, how does the family feel about Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry‘s documentary?
E! News reports that there was a level of surprise involved when everyone saw how personal they really got and how they gave fans an unexpected glimpse into their lives. They weren’t exactly happy the Duke and Duchess of Sussex revealed the details that they did, given that Kensington Palace has tried to keep up a positive image over the past year or so.
Fans are also speculating that Queen Elizabeth is pretty upset over the documentary since it did not go unnoticed that she removed a picture of Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry from her home in Buckingham Palace.
Did Prince Harry and Meghan Markle get permission for their ITV documentary?
So, were the Duke and Duchess of Sussex free to make the documentary exactly as they wanted to, or did they have to first seek permission? According to Express, it does not appear that they did, and it is even being implied that the documentary caused a great deal of additional tension between the family members. Although everyone is still on speaking terms, it apparently didn’t sit well that Prince Harry and Markle spoke so candidly. We can only hope that Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry find the happiness that they deserve, and are able to enjoy royal life as they should.
