Did Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Hint That They are Ready to Ditch Royal Life?

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle enjoyed their break in Canada over the holidays. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex spent Christmas and the New Year with their son, Archie Harrison, and her mom, Doria Ragland, on Vancouver Island. The family of three recently returned to the U.K., but they may have dropped a huge hint about moving to Canada for good.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle take a break

This past fall, Prince Harry and Markle announced that they were not joining the rest of the royals at Sandringham for Christmas. The couple did not release any details about their holiday plans, but they did reveal that they were spending the break with her mother.

The announcement came a few months after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle opened up about their struggles in a documentary. The pair admitted that life has not been easy, especially dealing with negative press from British tabloids.

Their trip outside of the U.K. was largely viewed as a welcome break for the couple, though it was unclear where they were staying.

A couple of weeks ago, residents on Vancouver Island spotted the couple out and about. We still do not know how long Harry and Meghan were in Canada, but one eye witness claims that they appeared happier than ever away from the spotlight.

Meghan Markle lends a helping hand

According to Express, a local resident in the area named Asymina Kantorowicz revealed that she briefly interacted with Meghan on New Year’s Day.

Kantorowicz was out on a walk with her boyfriend, Iliya Pavlovic, when they ran into the Duchess of Sussex. The two were trying to take some selfies together when a young woman approached and offered to help.

The passerby was with a group of people and had two dogs with her. Being a Suits fan, Kantorowicz recognized one of the women in the group as Abigail Spencer, who starred with Meghan in the hit legal drama.

At that point, Kantorowicz realized that the woman who had just taken her picture was Meghan Markle – and she had nothing but nice things to say about the former actress. Talk about a great start to a new year.

“I’m a Suits fan and I first noticed Abigail and then I looked up and realized it was Meghan taking the photo,” she shared. “Then I looked back at the group and realized Prince Harry was there too! I couldn’t believe who it was. There was Meghan smiling at me, waiting to take the photo and it was just shock at that moment and disbelief.”

Kantorowicz added that Meghan was very friendly in person and that they would have never noticed it was them if she hadn’t offered to help take the photo.

Will Prince Harry and Meghan Markle relocate to Canada?

There has been a lot of talk about Meghan and Harry relocating outside of the U.K. Most of the moving rumors stem from the couple’s struggles in the spotlight, but their holiday break might offer a clue to their future plans.

During their brief interaction, Kantorowicz revealed that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry looked super relaxed walking around Vancouver Island. This is a pretty far cry from how the Sussexes were acting before they left the U.K.

“She seemed happy and down to earth — she was just enjoying her New Year’s hike with her husband and friend,” Kantorowicz stated.

The idea that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry loved their time in Canada has sparked rumors that they are considering moving to the region in the near future. The two have not commented on the reports, but they both have a connection to the country.

Meghan worked in Toronto when she was filming Suits, while Harry held the 2017 Invictus Games in Canada. There is no telling if they will ever move to Canada permanently, but it clearly holds a special place in their hearts.

What’s next for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex?

While we wait to learn more on the moving front, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have officially returned to their royal duties. The couple’s first engagement in 2020 will be a meeting with the High Commissioner of Canada named Janice Charette.

They are also expected to continue working with their new charity, Sussex Royal, which they launched last year after splitting from Prince William and Kate Middleton’s organization, The Royal Foundation.

We do not know what Harry and Meghan have planned for their organization, but royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams believes they might open a new branch of the company in the United States.

Meghan’s mother lives in the Los Angeles area, so it makes sense that the couple would set up shop near her hometown.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have not said anything about moving to Canada.
