Did Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Just Quietly Remind Everyone They Work Harder Than William and Kate?

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might not be at the front of the line for the throne, but they are still working royals, which means they are paid by the British government to serve the public on behalf of the queen. Prince William and Kate Middleton are working royals as well — and William is third in line for the British throne. But Harry and Meghan have been quietly publicizing that they do just as much work — if not more — than William and Kate.

Working royals are paid to serve the people

The royal family isn’t just a collective figurehead with no meaning. The royals actually do a lot of good work to help serve their people. They constantly promote various charities and organizations by attending events geared toward specific causes. Meghan and Harry promoted women’s rights and brought awareness to youth living with HIV/AIDS during their trip to Africa. William and Kate recently attended a national emergencies charity event in the United Kingdom. Day in and day out, the royals work to learn more about different people and unique causes.

Harry and Meghan post every single royal engagement on Instagram

Whenever Harry and Meghan attend an event, they post about it on Instagram. It allows their followers to stay in the loop about what they’re doing and see how the duke and duchess are using their royal platform to spread positivity. No event is too small for the Sussex’s Instagram account, and it has been suspected that Meghan writes the captions for the couple’s posts. Between November 1 and November 8, 2019, the duke and duchess attended five royal engagements, all of which either brought awareness to something or honored something.

Their posts show off more work than William and Kate’s do

Meghan and Harry post often on Instagram, but it could be their way of quietly showing the public they do more work than William and Kate. William and Kate will take the throne after Charles, and some people have criticized the two in the past for a poor work ethic. Harry and Meghan might intentionally be posting every single royal engagement so that people will be reminded that they do more for the public than their in-laws. “… [Meghan and Harry] seem to work harder than William and Kate,” one person commented on the Sussex Instagram. “[Harry and Meghan] work very hard — excellent,” another user wrote on a later post.

Prince William and Kate Middleton didn’t post any royal engagements between October 22 and November 5.

It’s possible William and Kate use Instagram less frequently

Harry and Meghan definitely love Instagram. They seem to enjoy the way it allows them to connect with their fans and the public, and they generally appear to utilize it more than William and Kate. This could be why it appears Harry and Meghan do more, when in reality, all four working royals likely do a similar amount of work. However, William and Kate not posting any photos about their engagements between October 22 and November 5 could have some thinking they’re slacking on their public service; it certainly could be feasible that Harry and Meghan are trying to send that message.
