Did Prince William Just Hint at Royal Family Drama with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle During This Appearance?
Did Prince William drop a subtle hint about the current royal family tensions during his first joint appearance with Kate Middleton since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s announcement that they are stepping back from their duties? Royal fans found his comments very revealing.
Prince William and Middleton discussed communities
Prince William and Middleton stepped out for an appearance at Bradford Hall in West Yorkshire, where they met with leaders from various faith and community groups. During their meeting, Prince William seemed to touch on some of the drama that’s unfolded in his family when he spoke of moving on from “challenges.”
Royal fans are convinced that though William wasn’t talking specifically about Prince Harry and Markle, his words certainly could apply to the current situation.
The video landed on Twitter, with Prince William and Middleton sitting at a table at the meeting held at a community center, as William noted: “You can see that communities are trying to come together, trying to help each other, get to know each other. And that is really crucial.”
Prince William added: “If we can replicate that more in this country then that can only be for good, bringing everyone together. Which is slightly part of the reason why we want to get around the UK now and see as many places in the UK we may not have been to very much to try and understand some of the more complex challenges, some of the slightly more tucked away challenges that people find hard to talk about.”
Was he talking about Prince Harry?
While he was discussing community relations, his next comments had fans believing on some level that he was addressing everything that’s happened with Prince Harry.
Prince William shared: “It’s sometimes trying to get people to understand that’s it’s okay to have these challenges. We just need to deal with them and we need to move forward rather than just be stuck in paralysis and pretend they don’t happen, which is no good.”
In response to the meeting, the Daily Mail reports that the Bishop of Bradford, Tony Howarth, shared that it was “hugely important for families to come together to talk.” He explained how important Prince Willam and Middleton’s appearance was, noting: “At a bumpy time for our nation here is a young couple at ease with themselves and at ease with all the different communities they’ve met today, bringing people together and showing we are all at our best as one family.”
Queen Elizabeth approved Prince Harry and Markle’s plan
When Prince Harry and Markle returned from their six week break from royal duties, they dropped a bombshell announcement. At the time, the couple shared on Instagram their plan to take a “step back” from their current roles.
“Today my family had very constructive discussions on the future of my grandson and his family,” she noted, adding, “My family and I are entirely supportive of Harry and Meghan’s desire to create a new life as a young family.”
She continued: “Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working Members of the Royal Family, we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family.”
The queen addressed the Sussexes’ request to be “financially independent,” explaining: “Harry and Meghan have made clear that they do not want to be reliant on public funds in their new lives. It has therefore been agreed that there will be a period of transition in which the Sussexes will spend time in Canada and the UK.”
