Did Princess Beatrice Ban Prince Andrew From Her Wedding?
There has been much backlash against Prince Andrew amid the Jeffrey Epstein scandal. The prince has been accused of sexual crimes, leading him to become a bit of a pariah. Amazingly, this backlash seems to have affected his relationship with his daughter, Princess Beatrice. Let’s look at the reason why he has been banned from her wedding.
Princess Beatrice, Prince Andrew, and the Epstein scandal
The International Business Times reported that a source close to the princess said that “In a heartbreaking phone call, she tearfully told Andrew that she didn’t want him walking her down the aisle or at her wedding. She was so thrilled when [fiancé] Edoardo proposed. Now she’s down in the dumps over the shame and backlash caused by her father.”
Channel 4 shined a light on Prince Andrew’s connection to the Epstein scandal through their documentary, The Prince and the Pedophile. According to The Prince and the Pedophile, Epstein enjoyed forging connections with famous and powerful people. He saw Prince Andrew as a sort of trophy because of the royal family’s power and prominence. The documentary claims that Epstein had 13 different numbers through which to contact Prince Andrew.
The documentary also alleges that Prince Andrew and Epstein took part in an orgy with nine young girls. Virginia Roberts Guiffre, an alleged victim of Epstein, claims that “The other girls all seemed and appeared to be under the age of 18 and didn’t really speak English. Epstein laughed about the fact they couldn’t really communicate, saying that they are the ‘easiest’ girls to get along with.”
Buckingham Palace issued a statement on these allegations, saying “Any suggestion of impropriety with underage minors is categorically untrue. It is emphatically denied that the Duke of York had any form of sexual contact or relationship with Virginia Roberts [Giuffre].”
Princess Beatrice’s engagement
Given the horrific allegations against Prince Andrew, it’s not surprising that Princess Beatrice would want to distance herself from her father. News that she may have banned her father from her wedding comes shortly after Princess Beatrice announced her engagement to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, an Italian property tycoon and the son of Count Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi, an Olympic skier.
Princess Beatrice and her fiancé shared a tweet about their engagement which said “We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together. We share so many similar interests and values, and we know that this will stand us in great stead for the years ahead, full of love and happiness.”
If there is any internal strife surrounding the wedding, the royal family hasn’t been public about it. Princess Beatrice’s sister, Princess Eugenie, shared a post on her Instagram, saying “Beabea – wow! I’m so happy for you my dearest big sissy and dear Edo. It’s been a long time coming and you two are meant to be.”
Although Prince Andrew has reportedly been banned, he and the princess’ mother, Sarah Ferguson, released a statement saying “We are thrilled that Beatrice and Edoardo have got engaged, having watched their relationship develop with pride. We are the lucky parents of a wonderful daughter who has found her love and companion in a completely devoted friend and loyal young man. We send them every good wish for a wonderful family future.”
