What Is the Disney+ Original Series, ‘Be Our Chef’ About?

Disnye+ has a slew of original shows available to their subscribers, but none quite as delicious as the March 2020 release, Be Our Chef. This cooking competition series features Disney-loving families and challenges related to the company’s classic movies. Here’s what we know about Be Our Chef and what fans are saying on social media.

Disney released its reality competition series on its streaming platform

Food, Disney, and family fun — what could be better? For the first time in forever, the Walt Disney Company is bringing a reality competition series exclusive to its streaming platform, titled Be Our Chef

According to Eater, “it’s a premise not dissimilar to the U.K.’s Big Family Cooking Showdown — a delightful companion show to The Great British Bake Off — all wrapped up in one family-friendly, Disney-fied package.”

Each episode brings a new cooking challenge to the competing families. The challenges they face are inspired by Disney movies and feature the chefs of Walt Disney World as the judges, as well as another familiar face as the show’s host.

New episodes of ‘Be Our Chef’ premiere on Fridays on Disney+

The series is hosted by Angela Kinsey of The Office and features new families each episode each competing for the title and glory. One Twitter user wrote, “Loving Be Our Chef on @disneyplus, but it’s extremely jarring to see Angela Kinsey be a nice person on my TV.”

“Watching Be Our Chef. My youngest says we need to get on that show to try and win a free Disney Trip. My Oldest says we need to get on that show so he can meet @AngelaKinsey,” another Twitter user said.

First premiering on this streaming platform March 27, similar to originals like Diary of a Future President and The Mandalorian, new episodes debut on Disney+ on a weekly basis. There are 11 episodes in season 1, with a handful already available for binge-watching.

It’s unclear, however, if this reality series will return for its second season. Some series have since been renewed for season 2, including High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, which debuted during the fall of 2019.

‘Be Our Chef’ isn’t the only original series exclusively available on Disney+

New episodes of Be Our Chef are still debuting on this streaming platform. In between episodes, though, there are plenty of other original shows available for binge-watching. That includes the documentary series, One Day at Disney, which follows cast members through their journey with the company.

Disney premieres new episodes of the Star Wars series, titled The Clone Wars. There’s also already released shows like High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, The Mandalorian, and Diary of a Future President. There are also episodes of Disney Channel original shows including Hannah Montana, That’s So Raven, and Sonny With a Chance.
