It seems like we’ve been waiting forever for Disney’s streaming service and it’s almost here! On Nov. 12, 2019, Disney will launch its mega-streaming service Disney + and for just a handful of dollars each month, and Disney fans will have access to the studio’s extensive library.
From 1937’s Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs to the upcoming, live-action version of Lady and the Tramp over 500 titles will be available at your fingertips. This includes all of your favorite Marvel Cinematic Universe films and throwback TV shows like Smart Guy and Lizzie McGuire.
With iconic series like Lizzie McGuire getting the reboot treatment — and with Hilary Duff returning to the titular role as 30-year-old Lizzie — fans of the Disney Channel are wondering if other classic shows might also get a reboot. Here’s everything we know about a possible Even Stevens reboot.
Will there ever be an ‘Even Stevens’ reboot on Disney +?
The 2000s-era Disney Channel show was one of our absolute favs. Even Stevens followed the Sacramento-based Stevens family and the antics between the youngest siblings Ren (Christy Carlson Romano) and Louis (Shia LaBeouf). While Ren was a highly-intelligent perfectionist — her little brother, Louis was immature, rude and made her life miserable.
The series was so popular during its reign on Disney Channel that there was an Even Stevens movie, and it was only canceled after the series reached the channels 65-episode cap. Unfortunately, a Disney + reboot of Even Stevens seems highly unlikely at this point. But you can stream the old episodes on the service.
Christy Carlson Romano and Shia LaBeouf aren’t in contact
Both Carlson Romano and LaBeouf have continued to work on various projects in Hollywood and though there is no beef between the former co-stars, they aren’t in touch. Carlson Romano told Us Weekly,
I’ve definitely traded social comments with him online. But he’s really hard to track down. I think like sometimes he’ll emerge from his artistic state and want to connect with people from his past. We were gonna do a reunion, and I think he was only in town for a certain amount of time, but I was filming a movie in Florida, and this was in July. So we keep missing each other, but we always wish each other the best.
What would an ‘Even Stevens’ reboot look like?
Though she’s no longer regularly in contact with LaBeouf. Carlson Romano told Us Weekly that she’s be thrilled to reboot Even Stevens if the opportunity ever presented itself. She explained,
I think it could be super great if we could do it where I come back and then I have two children and maybe it’s like a gender swap where the girl is more like the Shia LaBeouf character and the boy is more of the type A. It’s up to Disney, I know there’s a lot of changes happening right now at Disney, so we’ll just have to wait and see, and maybe they’ll realize that it could be a really good idea. And the fans are so great.
With so much great material coming out of Disney+, anything is possible at this point. We’ll just have to wait and see how it all pans out.
