Disney Plus Has Officially Launched and Fans of All Ages Are Going Crazy!

Disney+ is here! Fans now have access to the classic films of our childhood, as well as our favorite tween series featuring the beloved child stars that we all enjoyed during the heyday of the Disney Channel. The app will also deliver original content in the near future that will exclusively premiere on the streaming service. Disney+ promises to deliver all that our hearts desire and more. From the reactions of subscribers across social media timelines, Disney+ is everything that fans anticipated.

Disney+ launches November 12, 2019

Fans were expecting the app to launch later in the day but were treated to an early surprise. A countdown clock suggested that the streaming service would launch at 6 AM Eastern time, but Disney+ went live just after midnight Eastern time on November 12. Disney explained the decision in a tweet shared with fans. 

“The consumer demand for Disney+ has exceeded our high expectations. We are working to quickly resolve the current user issue. We appreciate your patience,” they wrote.

Philadelphia’s ABC affiliate station released a detailed profile on the new app this morning. The highly anticipated service is home to Disney’s vast library of over a century of entertainment. Disney+ features films and television series from five of the company’s core brands: Walt Disney Studios, Marvel, Lucasfilm, Pixar, and National Geographic. Some of the content sections on Disney+ at the time of its launch include blockbuster “Hit Movies,” Disney classics that are “Out of the Vault,” brand-defining “Disney Channel Favorites,” and decades of “Nostalgic Movies” from the past. 

Outside of the content that currently exists in the Disney library, Disney has spent years developing original films and series that will make their exclusive debut on the streaming service. Some of the new releases that fans can expect include: “Lady and the Tramp,” the “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” television series, and “The Mandalorian” – a Star Wars live-action series. 

Fans react to Disney+ launch

To get fans excited, in October, Disney released a Disney a three-hour video that featured excerpts of the trailers for nearly all of the content Disney + would offer. Fans were excited enough that millions signed up for the variety of packages offered in advance of the launch. Packages are currently going for $6.99 a month or fans can pay for the year for the price of $69.99. Viewers also have the option of purchasing a $12.99 a month bundle that includes Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu, with channels the entire family can enjoy.

The reactions to the Disney+ launch are equivalent to the excitement a kid feels on Christmas morning! Fans are taking to Twitter to praise the streaming service for its delivery. 

“Just got #Disney+, probably the greatest purchase of all time,” one fan tweeted.

One social media commentator was so excited about the launch of the app that for her wedding anniversary, her husband purchased her a one year subscription to Disney +. 

“My husband got me a 1 yr subscription to #DisneyPlus for our anniversary screw flowers, dude got me cartoons and superheroes! #besthusbandever #disney #cartoons #Marvel #thatstruelove,” she wrote.

Disney + app experiences technical difficulties following launch

Fans may have been too excited as the app reportedly crashed shortly after launching. With the millions of users utilizing the app at once, technical errors are certainly possible. One fan tweeted about the issue after noticing his service was not working properly. 

“Was excited to get #DisneyPlus going today but I get a “something went wrong error” when logging in and a loading spinner when trying to load original content. Come on #disney – should of anticipated the server hit from millions of folks,” he tweeted.

According to downdetector.com, the problems started a little before 7 AM, an hour after its launch. The site tracks outages and reported that they received more than 8,000 reports of difficulties, mostly with video streaming. Disney has been working to resolve issues.
