The Skywalker saga may have come to a close, but fans want to watch this movie over and over again on Disney’s streaming platform. Some recently-released Disney movies are set for their debut on Disney+

For the first time in forever, Disney debuted Frozen 2 on its streaming platform. This early release came as surprise for some fans because it premiered in theaters during November 2019.

This could be, in part, due to the coronavirus outbreak and the closure of Disney theme parks worldwide. When news came that Disney was sending home its Disney College Program participants, the movie premiered on Disney’s streaming platform only hours later.

Coronavirus also impacted the premiere of a few Disney movies, including the March 2020 live-action adaptation of Mulan and the upcoming Black Widow origin story, set for its debut during May 2020. Both pushed back their theatrical debuts “until further notice.”

‘Onward’ premieres on Disney+ about a month after it premiered in theaters

Even though Onward premiered in theaters about a month ago, the coronavirus surge impacted the ability of some fans to head to theaters. Disney decided to release the movie digitally only a few weeks after its cinematic release, with a Disney+ premiere date set for April 3.

“While we’re looking forward to audiences enjoying our films on the big screen again soon, given the current circumstances, we are pleased to release this fun, adventurous film to digital platforms early for audiences to enjoy from the comfort of their homes,” said “Onward” director Dan Scanlon and producer Kori Rae in a joint statement.

Now, some Star Wars fans are wondering if the coronavirus serge could impact the debut of The Rise of Skywalker on Disney’s streaming platform. (There was no word regarding the premiere date of this film on Disney+. However, some anticipated a summer 2020 release date, as the physical and digital copies were initially set to release during spring 2020.)

When will ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ be on Disney+?

Not only was this movie the end of the sequel trilogy, but The Rise of Skywalker was the final movie in the Skywalker saga. This Star Wars film debuted during December 2019 and it just recently became available on-demand and Blu-ray on March 13.

Frozen 2 following a somewhat similar release schedule, premiering in theaters during November 2019 and releasing digitally and physically during February 2019. As a result, some Star Wars fans anticipate The Rise of Skywalker could debut on Disney+ within the next few months.

Nothing has been confirmed by Disney or Lucasfilm. The title is not even listed on the Disney+ library. Not yet, anyway. In the meantime, fans can watch Star Wars television shows, like The Mandalorian and The Clone Wars, and movies like Star Wars: The Last Jedi, on this streaming platform.
