Disney+ Thanksgiving Binge: The Streaming Service Offers Up Options For Everyone In Your Family
Look, we all know that the holidays can be overwhelming. And yes, it’s often fun to spend time with family and friends away from screens. But you have to admit, a whole long weekend of just talking and eating can be a lot.
So Disney+ is offering up some curated lists of content that you can stream, either as a group or by yourself. After all, you just bought the subscription: You might as well use it. Here’s a look at what the service suggests you take in while you digest all of that food this weekend.
Disney is all about emphasizing family — whether that means the one you were born into or the one you make. So for their first option, they’ve offered up a long list of films and series that celebrate family in its many forms.
The list includes Pixar favorites like The Incredibles and Inside Out, Marvel entries Guardians of the Galaxy and its sequel, and Disney Channel Original movies Smart House and the Cheetah Girls trilogy. (It’s worth noting that Incredible 2 is not yet available.) Additionally, TV shows The Simpsons and Lizzie McGuire (the original run, that is), made the cut.
‘Old Classics & New Traditions’
The next category is sort of an array of older films with a few new options thrown in (you know, so the less-talked-about entries can get a little attention). This one runs the gamut in terms of subject matter, so it might not be as much of a binge list as a pick-and-choose one.
The three original Star Wars films made this list, as did football classic Remember the Titans and holiday classic (though which holiday is up for debate) The Nightmare Before Christmas. As for newer fare, the updated Lady and the Tramp movie is on here, as is Noelle, a Christmas movie starring Anna Kendrick.
Let’s face it: Thanksgiving can be boring for kids. While adults are busy cooking, cleaning, and chatting throughout, the young ones are bound to get antsy when food isn’t on the table. So Disney+ naturally created a list just to keep them entertained.
Featured here are movies such as the Cars trilogy, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (which may bring around the adults in a bout of nostalgia). There are also a few TV series here like That’s So Raven and Hannah Montana.
Finally, when all is said and done, it’s nice to just get away from the craziness for a while to decompress and watch something fun. Enter a list of binge-worthy classics all about characters who also spent time alone.
The focus here is on a new addition to Disney+: The Home Alone trilogy. Then there are Captain America‘s three flicks (though we’d argue that last one isn’t much of a solo film), and movies like Free Solo and Wall-E which really lean into the theme. But arguably, the standouts here are the DCOM Motocrossed and every season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which are excellent deep pulls from the Disney library. Happy binge-watching!
