Disney+ Hasn’t Announced Its Premiere Date for ‘Toy Story 4’ and Fans Are Getting Worried
This company announced a slew of movies to be available on Disney+. Unfortunately, Toy Story 4 wasn’t listed and fans got a little nervous. Will Toy Story 4 be on Disney+? When is the movie set to premiere on this streaming platform? Here’s what we know about Pixar’s latest animated film and Disney’s subscription service.
Disney and Pixar’s ‘Toy Story 4’ premiered in theaters during 2019
It’s been a few weeks since viewers saw the end of Woody and Buzz’s story. Premiering on June 21, 2019, this movie told the story of Bonnie’s toys as they embark on a road trip together. When Bonnie starts Kindergarten and creates a spork friend named Forky, it’s up to Woody to teach him to the true value of being a toy and a friend.
Since its premiere, Toy Story 4 became one of the most popular movies of the summer, surpassing $1 billion in box office sales. The film later released on Blu Ray and DVD, taking Woody, Buzz, and Bo Peep’s adventure into viewers’ homes. However, some fans are wondering if this Pixar movie will be available for streaming on Disney+.
Will this movie premiere on Disney’s streaming service, Disney+?
While Disney periodically announced movies to be available on Disney+ within the coming months, the launch date of Toy Story 4 has yet to be confirmed. (The live-action adaptations of Aladdin and The Lion King, both released in 2019, will be on Disney+ during January 2020. Some 2019 blockbusters, including Dumbo and Avengers: Endgame were available at the Disney+ launch date.)
However, some suspect the animated Toy Story sequel will be streamable within the next year. According to Newsweek, “in general, films are set to appear on the service four months after their DVD and BluRay release. Toy Story 4 was released on home entertainment formats on October 8, 2019, meaning that, if the sequel [follows] suit, it will come to Disney+ in early February 2020.”
Other ‘Toy Story’ related movies and shorts are available on Disney+
There is some good news, Toy Story fans. The original three movies are all on Disney’s streaming service, available for binge-watching anytime. Spinoff television specials, cartoons, and movies, including Toy Story Toons: Partysaurus Rex and Toy Story Toons: Hawaiian Vacation.
Some characters from the latest Toy Story movie are on this streaming platform. Disney+ also premiered their exclusive spinoff series, based on the confused, yet lovable character from Toy Story 4, Forky. During Forky Asks a Question, this spork explores some of the hardest questions of life, like what is love, what is money, and what it means to be a friend.
According to Newsweek, another spinoff is coming to Disney+, entitled Lamp Life. This short film “fills in the gap between when we saw Bo Peep (Annie Potts) in Toy Story 2 and when she returned in Toy Story 4, though the release date for that has not been confirmed.”
