For some reason, the media is set on making it seem like Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle don’t get along. Every wayward glance or sigh coming from either one of them is often used to prove that they don’t like one another.
Whether the rumors are actually true or not, no one knows. But recently, there has been proof that could quiet the critics.
Markle and Middleton’s relationship rumors
Ever since Prince Harry and Markle began dating, there have been reports that Middleton and Prince William didn’t approve. Some sources said that Prince William even told the couple to slow down. Obviously, Prince Harry did not listen to that advice and the couple got engaged shortly after they began dating.
Since then, people have watched everything that Markle has done like a hawk. If she makes one misstep or looks slightly displeased at any time, people attribute it to her not getting along with the royal family.
What is Middleton and Markle’s relationship actually like?
Though the two duchesses may live in a bit of a royal bubble, they aren’t completely immune to all of the rumors being spread about them and apparently, Markle and Middleton are tired of it. So, they recently set out to put the whispers to rest.
“There have been two major circumstances, which are very calculated and deliberate efforts to try and stem these rumors about a feud between the foursome,” royal expert Katie Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight of the women and their husbands. “We saw it at the polo match where William and Harry were obviously playing together. We hadn’t expected the duchesses to turn up with their children. The fact that they did is a wonderful treat for royal watchers, but I think those candid pictures were quite deliberately intended to snuff out those rumors of the feud between the foursome. And you saw them all very close, very happy, very comfortable with each other.”
But that wasn’t the only royal outing that was meant to shut critics up. Last Saturday, the women and Middleton’s sister, Pippa Middleton, went to Serena Williams’ Wimbledon match.
“We saw Kate and Meghan in the royal box getting along, chatting to each other, looking very much like friends,” Nicholl continued. “To have had the tennis [outing] so soon afterward, and obviously the two duchesses being so close together and so comfortable in each other’s company, yes, for the time being, you’re not going to be reading stories of a feud.”
“You’re going to be reading stories about how the duchesses get on and I am told that both of them are making an effort to get along,” she added.
What changed their relationship?
Even if the women weren’t necessarily fond of each other at the beginning of their relationship, there is one thing that can turn any situation around.
“Certainly, Archie has brought them closer,” Nicholl said.
“Now that Archie is here, it has probably really helped to improve the [foursome’s] relationship,” the expert previously told ET. “William is over the moon that his brother is a dad. Kate loves to be around newborns. And I think the relationship between the duchesses is actually a lot better.”
