Do Prince William and Meghan Markle Get Along?
The media has often fixated on the supposed feud between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton, but her relationships with other members of the royal family are also fascinating.
From her reportedly close relationship with the queen to her loving bond with Prince Charles, Meghan has made a very distinct mark on the royal family — especially Prince William. Find out what Meghan’s relationship is like with the Duke of Cambridge.
Did Prince William not want Meghan Markle to join the family?
When Meghan first started dating Prince Harry, their relationship drew a lot of critics. One of these critics was William, Harry’s older brother and the future king. Reportedly, William was concerned his brother’s relationship with the actress was moving too fast and wanted the couple to slow things down a bit.
He could have been concerned about Meghan’s motives, thinking that the actress was looking for a publicity boost by dating his eligible younger brother. William is known to be the more reserved brother, concerned about appearances and propriety, especially compared to Harry, often referred to as the “wild” one.
Needless to say, Harry didn’t listen to his older brother and continued his whirlwind romance with Meghan. The two got married in May 2018, and have experienced a roller-coaster of incredible events ever since, culminating with the birth of their son, Archie Harrison, on May 6th, 2019.
Throughout all of the ups and downs, Harry stuck by his wife’s side, showing his support and proving all of the haters wrong again and again. It could be that their utter devotion to each other even surprised William, who might not have expected the couple to go the distance.
Does Prince William like Meghan Markle?
These days, William and Meghan seem to get along just fine. According to many reports, William loves the stabilizing influence that Meghan provides Harry. While their personalities might not necessarily mesh perfectly — he is reserved and prefers to avoid displays of affection in public, while Meghan is more open, appropriate considering her California nationality — they likely enjoy each other’s company and love spending time as a family.
Meghan got some bad press when it was recently announced that William and Harry would be splitting households, with the future king staying in Kensington Palace with his family while Meghan and Harry moved to the smaller, more isolated Frogmore Cottage. However, the cause for the split households seems to be a natural progression of the brothers’ relationship, and shouldn’t be blamed on Meghan’s influence. Ultimately, it made sense to split the households because as adult men in their thirties, the brothers each have busy schedules and their own families to manage and direct.
How does the family get along now?
William and Meghan have more in common than ever these days. Meghan and Harry have given William and Kate’s children a brand-new little cousin to play with, and since children have a way of eliminating the excess family drama, the royals are probably better than ever.
As the royals continue to grow and expand their families, Meghan and William could grow even closer, weathering storms together as a family. After all, the world is watching and waiting for the day when William becomes king — and it could come sooner than anyone is expecting, considering that preparations have amped up around the palace, with Kate even making solo trips with the queen.
