‘Doctor Who’: Jodie Whittaker’s Best Scenes According to the BBC
Since Jodie Whittaker took over the part of the Doctor in Doctor Who, fans have been going crazy. Feelings about her assuming the role are definitely mixed. Some fans think of her as a breath of fresh air for the long-running BBC show, while others think she represents too much unnecessary change.
Other fans are more in the middle, thinking she has her strengths and weaknesses, like every past Doctor. Yet the BBC has released a compilation of clips that might change even the most critical fan into a Whittaker lover. What are Jodie Whittaker’s best scenes as the Doctor according to the BBC? Find out, ahead.
What are Jodie Whittaker’s best scenes in ‘Doctor Who’ so far?
The video starts off with the Thirteenth Doctor falling out of the sky and into a train in the middle of Sheffield, England. However, she’s not alone. There are several people on the train who are dealing with a threat. Of course, the Doctor immediately reacts and buys them some time.
It’s not for long, as the mysterious coil-like object continues floating in the air and scaring those on the train, including future companions Graham O’Brien, Ryan Sinclair, and Yasmin Khan. It seems to zap all of them and then leaves. The next scene is less action-packed but more heart-touching as it features the Doctor talking to Graham, Ryan, and Yasmin, more commonly known as Yaz, about her family. She lost them long ago, but according to the Doctor she “[carries] them with [her].”
She tells her new friends that she thinks of “what they would have thought, and said, and done” so that “even though they’re gone from the world, they’re never gone from [her].” What a nice sentiment! The scene then moves to her picking out some new clothes, since she hasn’t gotten out of her old ones yet. Of course, being the Doctor she doesn’t pick anything particularly fashionable.
What other scenes are included in the video?
The next scene in the video is showing the Doctor and her friends confronting alien creatures that are flying around them, threatening to squeeze the life out of them. These creatures mention someone called the Timeless Child to the Doctor. Many fans are wondering if this mysterious person will be brought up again during the Thirteenth Doctor’s time in the TARDIS. It’s definitely possible that they will be mentioned again.
Perhaps the mystery will even be solved as to who they are and what they have to do with the Doctor. Next in the video, the Doctor is reunited with her TARDIS and the scene is beautiful. You can feel the affection that the Doctor has for the TARDIS, as well as how much she wants to help her new friends out.
The video also features scenes where The Doctor confronts a man from the future named Krasko about what he wants with Rosa Parks, the companions officially join the Doctor in the TARDIS, and the Doctor marries Yaz’s grandmother to a man who is not her grandfather where she says that “love is a form of hope..and like hope, love abides, in the face of everything.” All of these scenes show the versatility of Doctor Who. It can be a sci-fi adventure or a heart-touching drama. It can be funny, heartwarming, hopeful, scary, and so much more.
What were fan reactions to the video?
Fan reactions are, on Youtube anyway, mostly positive. There are several comments suggesting that the BBC might be posting a season 12 trailer for Doctor Who soon. One fan said that the video “was actually a fun watch!” Another said that they”bloody love her energy, Jodie’s awesome.”
Of course, you can’t please everyone. One more critical fan said that season 11 was “a travesty and a stain on the Doctor Who fandom.” Well, that’s intense. Another more critical fan said that though they enjoy Jodie Whittaker’s portrayal of the Thirteenth Doctor, they “just wish [Chris] Chibnall [the showrunner] did her justice”.
So looks like someone didn’t like the writing for season 11 very much. Hopefully, things will improve for season 12 for these fans.
