‘Doctor Who’ Season 12: Bradley Walsh Teases Graham’s ‘Journey’

Doctor Who season 11 changed the show a lot from previous seasons. While the Doctor has had multiple companions before, it is usually, at least in the newer version of the show since 2005, 1 or 2. The Thirteenth Doctor, however, has three companions: Ryan Sinclair, Yasmin Khan, and Graham O’Brien.

In season 11, the companions initially began traveling with The Doctor by accident, since they were helping her find the TARDIS and all of them ended up in space with her. Later on in the season, however, they made the decision to begin traveling with her. By Doctor Who season 12, Graham and Ryan and Yasmin are probably used to traveling in the TARDIS. So what is in store for the companions now?

Bradley Walsh has previously stated that Doctor Who fans can prepare for some “terrifying” monsters in season 12. And now he is teasing fans with information about Graham’s arc during the season. Find out more, ahead.

What made Graham O’Brien start traveling with the Thirteenth Doctor?

The Thirteenth Doctor fell out of the sky and into Graham O’Brien’s life, literally. In the first episode of season 11, the Doctor fell out of the TARDIS and into a train that had an alien creature on board. Graham happened to be on that train with his wife Grace. Ryan and Yasmin showed up later, and Ryan happened to be Graham’s step-grandson since Grace was his grandmother.

All of them got together to defeat Tzim-Sha, an alien competing to lead his people the Stenza, but Grace ended up dying in the process. Graham and Ryan were then grieving her. Traveling with the Doctor gave them, especially Graham, the time and space necessary to process this grief.

Graham told the Doctor that grief needs time and that traveling with her was helping him to heal. He continued trying to bond with his step-grandson Ryan throughout season 11. And he wanted to kill Tzim-Sha for causing Grace’s death. In the end, Ryan and Graham did bond and Graham didn’t kill Tzim-Sha but instead locked him up.

So that leaves many possibilities open for Graham’s arc in Doctor Who season 12.

What did Bradley Walsh say about Graham in ‘Doctor Who’ season 12?

Bradley Walsh talks about the change in Graham’s motivations from season 11 to season 12. According to the actor, who was interviewed for the ITV show This Morning, in Doctor Who season 12 Graham goes on “a journey with his step-grandson Ryan.” Ryan is “played by Tosin Cole who’s brilliant,” according to Walsh.

Accompanying him on this journey is also Yasmin Khan who is played by “the wonderful Mandip Gill,” as Walsh calls her. Of course, all three of them are traveling in the TARDIS with the Thirteenth Doctor. Walsh also repeats that there are some “seriously scary” aliens in the next season of the show. He also praises Jodie Whittaker, who plays the Thirteenth Doctor, calling her “great” and “fantastic.”

Walsh goes on to praise Stephen Fry, calling him “tremendous.” So that is one guest star that Whovians will definitely be looking forward to. Though we’re sure all of them are good. As are the main cast of Doctor Who season 12, including Bradley Walsh as Graham, Tosin Cole as Ryan, Mandip Gill as Yasmin, and Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor.
