Does Barron Trump Have Any Close Friends?
Barron Trump, the son of President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania, is many years younger than his siblings. He’s the youngest son in the White House since John F. Kennedy was president, and though Melania tries to keep him out of the spotlight, we can’t help but wonder what Barron does in his spare time. Does the young boy have any close friends?
Barron recently transferred schools
Before Donald Trump became president, he and his family lived in New York City. Barron had been attending Columbia Preparatory School before the election. However, when Donald won the presidency, his family obviously had to uproot and move to Washington, D.C. Melania had other plans though, and decided to let Barron finish out the school year in New York before moving into the White House. In September 2017, Barron enrolled at St. Andrews Episcopal School in Maryland. The major move meant that Barron would be leaving behind any friends he’d made in New York. He was only 12 years old at the time, and a move during middle-school age would be difficult for any child — especially one whose father is the president.
He spends a lot of time with his nieces and nephews
Barron’s half siblings are quite a few years older than him. Ivanka Trump and Donald Trump Jr. both have children who are close in age to Barron, and he spends a lot of time with them in the White House. They have a relationship similar to that of cousins rather than nieces and nephews. Barron and the other children in his family reportedly love to play golf together and do so whenever they all visit Mar-a-Lago. Ivanka Trump has said in the past that all the kids often play together in the White House.
Melania notes he has many ‘friends and play dates’ but enjoys playing alone
Melania told Parenting Magazine that Barron actually loves to play by himself sometimes. She said he could do so for a long time and never get bored. She also notes that he “has a lot of play dates and friends that he plays with,” but she doesn’t mention anyone specific. Barron is at an age where friendships can be difficult to make, and friends change all the time. It’s part of what comes with being a middle schooler. However, we don’t ever see him hanging out with friends after school or inviting any friends over to the White House. It’s possible that Melania wants to shield his social life from the press.
Before Barron moved to Washington, D.C., he took 80 of his classmates down to the White House via bus to meet the president and get a tour of the White House. Sources said the kids loved it, and Barron was excited to show everyone around. It’s unclear if he still keeps in touch with his friends from New York City. It’s also unknown how many friends he has now that he’s attending school in Maryland. However, at just 12 years old, we can only hope he’s acclimating well.
