Chris Hemsworth has been Thor for a while
Chris Hemsworth has been throwing Thor’s hammer for the better part of a decade. While it didn’t start his career, it definitely helped launch him into superstardom. He has gained fans from all over the world from being part of the Marvel Universe.
Playing Thor has also helped to make him the most recognizable of the three Hemsworth brothers, something we are sure he brings up at every family get-together.
Many actors that play the same role for this long worry that they may be typecast. That is likely why many of his Marvel co-stars have decided to jump ship. Hemsworth, on the other hand, might not feel the same way. Of course, playing a God is not something many actors can add to their resume.
Does Chris Hemsworth want to reprise his role as Thor?
During his interview, Chris Hemsworth talked about his iconic role and said that he would like to see it continue.
“I’d still love to do more, to be honest,” Hemsworth explained in the interview. “I feel like we’ve opened up such a different character. I feel more energized about the possibility of where he could go.” He said that if it doesn’t happen, he could live with it. ” But [if not] I’ll use that in other places and other characters if it’s the end here.”
He also talked about how difficult a couple of movies in the franchise were on him. He said he felt trapped because the character was not deep enough.
“After I’d done Avengers and Thor 2, I did feel a bit trapped. It felt like I was typecast by whoever wrote the scripts” he admitted. “I feel like the creators were stuck on where they could take [Thor] and was this all he had to offer? I felt there was so much more we could do.”
What does the future hold for Thor?
For now, there’s no word on whether Chris Hemsworth will get his way, or if the creators are done with the Thor franchise. It does seem after Avengers: Endgame that there is at least a possibility for another stand-alone film. Taika Waititi, Thor: Ragnarok director, seems to be on board too.
Another way that we can expect to see Thor again is with the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. At this point, there hasn’t been any official word, but fans and several media outlets have been talking about him popping up in the next movie.
As far as Hemsworth getting another Thor film, it would likely be set in another timeline or an alternate reality. Not only is Hollywood pushing a lot of scripts about the multiverse right now, but that seems to be the only believable way to write the script, depending on who will be in the movie.
