Does Katy Perry Have a Grammy?

Katy Perry is one of the most colorful pop artists in the world, with thousands of fans and supporters. She first burst onto the music scene in 2008 with her controversial song “I Kissed a Girl,” and ever since, has been the subject of countless headlines and newspaper articles.

Katy Perry has been widely recognized for everything from her style to her unique musical stylings. Let’s break down some of the awards and nominations that Katy Perry has received over the course of her career so far.

What early awards did Katy Perry receive?

As a young artist on the cusp of her career, Perry got lots of love from fans and critics alike. In 2009, following the release of her hit single, “I Kissed a Girl,” she received a Grammy nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. Then in 2010, Perry was nominated in that same category for “Hot n Cold” a popular song that still gets tons of radio play. Although she went home empty-handed that year from the Grammy Awards, she did receive a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records for the achievement of Best Start on the US Digital Chart by a Female Artist.

In 2011, her album Teenage Dream got lots of love, with a nomination for Album of the Year, and Best Pop Vocal Album. Perry was also nominated for a Grammy that year for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals for her duet with Snoop Dogg on the song “California Gurls.” Once again, Perry went home without a Grammy that night but received love from the Juno Awards, a Canadian music awards ceremony where she won International Album of the Year.

Has Perry ever won a Grammy?

Perry would go on to get Grammy nominations in 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015, for such iconic songs as “Wide Awake,” “Firework,” “Prism,” and “Dark Horse.” Still, even with all those nominations, Perry has yet to win one of the coveted Grammy awards. For many artists, the Grammys are the biggest ceremony in the business, and winning a Grammy is widely considered to be the pinnacle of musical achievement.

Even though Perry hasn’t yet won a Grammy, she’s received thirteen total nominations and a slew of other awards and honors. A few of these include a Special Achievement Award from the American Music Awards, that she won in 2011, and the Billboard Woman of the Year award in 2012. She also still holds the Guinness World Record for the most-viewed Halftime Show performance for Super Bowl XLIX halftime show.

Perry is an award-winning style icon

There’s no question that Perry’s style has influenced a generation. From brightly colored patterns and crazy outfits to rainbow hair and pastel makeup, Perry always dresses to express herself. Over the years, she has been recognized for her contributions to the world of fashion by several big-name organizations.

In 2009, when Perry was still a brand-new name in music, she received Newcomer of the Year from the Glamour Awards, an English awards show ceremony that is much-anticipated each year. Then in 2014, Perry won Woman of the Year from the Elle Style Awards, an annual ceremony that celebrates women who make bold statements in fashion.

Even though Katy Perry hasn’t won a Grammy for her musical prowess, she’s still young, and no doubt has many years of music ahead of her. On top of that, even if she never scores one of the coveted awards, she’s definitely received enough honors and trophies to put many other artists to shame. As she continues her run as a judge on American Idol, there’s no telling where Perry’s talent and skills could take her.
