Does Omarion Believe Raz-B’s Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Their Former Manager?
Teenage girls were devastated over the breakup of the R&B and rap group, B2K. At the time of their split, the group released two albums and starred in the dance film, You Got Served. The group consisted of four members: Omarion, Lil’ Fizz, J. Boog, and Raz-B. They were managed by entertainment executive, Chris Stokes.
Rumors circulated about what contributed to the breakup, with most involving Stokes. There were allegations of mismanaging finances and bad business deals. The greatest allegation was from Raz-B, who claims that Stokes sexually abused him as a child. He’s maintained that the abuse happened despite Stoke’s denying the claims.
With the exception of Raz-B, all members went on to appear on reality TV shows and they eventually reunited for a reunion tour. Omarion recently spoke with YouTube personality, Vlad TV, about Raz-B’s claims against Stokes and showed his support.
B2K member Raz-B alleges that he was a victim of sexual abuse
On the heels of B2K’s dramatic split, a video of Raz-B detailing alleged abuse from the group’s manager, Chris Stokes, was revealed. Stokes is also Raz-B’s cousin and was appointed guardianship of the singer when he was a teenager.
“It all started with Chris Stokes,” Raz-B says in the video. “It started one day when Chris was like — ‘Let me touch you’ … I can’t speak for everybody, but if you want my personal opinion, I think he did (touch all the other group members).”
Omarion would later speak to MTV News to deny Raz-B’s allegations. His statement to the media outlet read partly, “I want to be on the record as saying that ‘Raz-B’ Thornton and Ricardo Thornton are lying regarding Chris Stokes. I have grown up around Chris, and this is crazy to me. These people have damaged me and my reputation. I won’t stand silent and will do all within my means to speak the truth about this matter.”
Raz-B would later retract his statement but later claimed that he did so under pressure. He has continued to speak out regarding the alleged abuse since.
Raz-B claims Chris Stokes was present at ‘Millennium Tour’
After a 15 years hiatus, B2K reunited in 2019 to the satisfaction of fans around the world. They embarked on a star-studded tour featuring all of the hottest acts of the early 2000s with the Millennium Tour. The lineup included Chingy, Ying Yang Twins, Bobby Valentino, Mario, Pretty Ricky, and Lloyd. They sold out arenas all throughout the U.S.
Speaking with Vlad, Omarion said the group only had a month to rehearse and their chemistry took work to mesh. Old issues involving B2K quickly resurfaced and Raz B was in the center of it all. In March 2019 just five days after the tour kicked off, Raz B announced that he was quitting the tour due to feeling “unsafe.” He accredited his departure to Stokes being around the group.
Raz B ultimately rejoined the tour but it was short-lived after he was arrested on charges of domestic battery. TMZ reported that Raz B claimed self-defense. He eventually quit the tour with just a few dates remaining to focus on his personal wellness.
Omarion speaks on Raz B’s sexual abuse allegations against their former manager
Raz B has made headlines behavior that many believe is out of the ordinary. After the group disbanded, he spent many years dealing with personal turmoil that almost always became public. The idea that Raz B was erratic was not only from the public. According to Omarion, he too felt that Raz B’s antics were too much at some points.
“There was definitely moments where I was really pissed off. I was so upset,” he admitted to Vlad. “But now in my maturity and really understanding where he’s at I understand more, I understand better so I kind of let all of that stuff go.”
Raz B has maintained that his behavior has been a direct result of the alleged abuse he suffered at the hands of Stokes but he’s also been remorseful for dragging his band members into his personal battle as well. Omarion opened up to Vlad about whether or not he believes Raz’s claims.
“I definitely think something happened to him, I don’t know what happened but I think something happened to him,” Omarion said. “I don’t know [if it was from Stokes] and I don’t think it’s for me to say whether or not anything happened. I didn’t see anything happened so I don’t know and I cant speak facts but I feel like the way that he responds to certain things, something traumatic definitely happened.”
When asked about his own experiences with Stokes, Omarion says that outside of Stokes’ managerial duties for the group, Stokes was once married to his aunt and that was the extent of their relationship. He also refused to comment on Stokes further, telling Vlad he had “nothing to say about him.”
Hopefully, Raz-B is on the path to the healing he has been yearning for.
