Does Prince Harry Have Secret Social Media Accounts?

The British royal family has a popular social media presence spanning across some of the most well-known and beloved platforms. Their Twitter accounts, @KensingtonRoyal, @RoyalFamily, and @Clarencehouse ‏have almost 6 million followers between them. Their Instagram accounts decimate the already impressive number at over 13 million royalists!

The accounts share announcements and give a peek into the lives of the much-loved royals. But what about the individual Queen, Dukes, and Duchesses? Do they have secret accounts that live outside of Kensington Palace’s watchful eye?

Why all the different social media accounts?

One might wonder why the British Royals opted to spread their awareness across several different accounts. Well, the family is pretty vast and each of the accounts appears to have its own focus. The Kensington Palace account which stands at 1.7 million on Twitter and 7.4 million on Instagram typically features the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge; Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and Prince William and Kate Middleton respectively.

The Royal Family account has 3.69 million followers on Twitter and 5.1 million Instagrammers. This social media account focuses on the Queen and also features other members of the Royal family. The last official account, Clarence House, is all about the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall.

Does Queen Elizabeth have her own account?

As far as the public knows, Her Majesty doesn’t peruse social media on her own time, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t indulge from time to time! Back in 2014, she made her first Twitter post while visiting the Science Museum. So it’s fitting that her first Instagram post, a recent happening, also occurred at the London Science Museum!

The 92-year-old firecracker was visiting the museum to announce its summer exhibition. While there she saw a letter that was written to Queen Victoria and Prince Albert by Charles Babbage. To put things into perspective, Babbage was the world’s first engineer, making the letter of the utmost importance.

She went on to share the experience with the world, “Today, as I visit the Science Museum, I was interested to discover a letter from the Royal Archives, written in 1843 to my great-great-grandfather Prince Albert. Charles Babbage, credited as the world’s first computer pioneer, designed the ‘Difference Engine,’ of which Prince Albert had the opportunity to see a prototype in July 1843.”

Most people who have been following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s relationship from the beginning know the two used to talk via Instagram’s direct messenger. It’s how they got to know each other alongside their lavish dates and adventures! Before becoming an official member of the Royal family, Markle had an official Instagram account. As a part of her “onboarding,” she needed to do away with the account

To deal with the disconnect, she created a private one on the side to keep track of friends after that one went offline. Sadly the constant Internet bullying led to her deleting that account. But what about Prince Harry? Did he do away with the account he used to use to chat with his true love?

People believe that Prince Harry has kept his secret accounts despite the royal regulations. It’s not just the Instagram one either! The Duke of Sussex reportedly used Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter to talk to his lady love and has even used them to follow Royal news!

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have their own shared Instagram

While Markle may have tossed personal social media aside, the couple has decided to create a “business” account for themselves! The account will allow the royal couple to distance themselves from Prince William and Kate Middleton. It’s not like there is trouble brewing, but with this Instagram account, they can stand on their own two feet and create their own unique social media presence.

While the public reaction to the split has been mixed, the popularity garnered by the move is undeniable. Prince Harry and Markle’s account broke the Guinness World Record for the least amount of time to gain 1 million followers. They clocked in at an insane 5 hours and 45 minutes. At the time of writing this post the social media account, @sussexroyal, has a whopping 3.6 million followers, four posts, and follows 24 other pages including Princess Eugenie and one of Markle’s patronages, The National Theatre.

Prince Harry’s secret account may not be easily discovered by the masses, but fans of the controversial duo can now tune into everything Sussex at the groundbreaking new Instagram account!
