Does Prince Philip Like Kate Middleton?
Prince Philip may be one of the cheekiest royals, which seems to be endearing to his granddaughter-in-law Kate Middleton. He’s considered to be the most popular royal. And recent images give insight into exactly why.
“One of the interesting challenges for me [in researching the role] was that I felt there was a sort of a misconception and a preconception about him, which reduced him a bit,” Matt Smith, who played Prince Philip in The Crown told Variety. “And actually all the research I did found him to be brilliantly funny, very clever, very popular. In the royal house he’s the most popular of all of them. If you’ve talked to any of the staff, Philip’s the one they all love really.”
Kate appears to be a fan. Images surfaced of the two having what appears to be a fun (and funny) moment. It is quite apparent he’s trying to make her laugh and doing a marvelous job. The pictures seem to suggest that Prince Philip is as smitten with Kate as she is with him.
They are the ‘perfect partners in crime’
The Express asked body language expert Judy James to evaluate images of the exchange between the two. James says the pair appears to be “perfect partners in crime.” “These delightful poses suggest unexpectedly rich bonds between Kate and Prince Philip based on not just affection but also a shared sense of humour and fun,” she observes.
Their jovial interaction in public was risky
Prince Philip and Kate don’t seem overly concerned about protocol. “Both royals tend to be fans of protocol at public events,” James says. “But Philip’s animated chat with his daughter-in-law here puts could have put them firmly on the naughty step, as judging from the poses of the rest of the group they are having a chat and a giggle during a fly-past.”
Prince William got in hot water with his grandmother for, “bending with his son during a similar line-up,” James says. So he wasn’t about to join in any time soon.
The photos make it obvious the pair has a warm relationship
Prince Philip gestures toward Kate, who is holding her daughter on her hip. “Her dimpled smile and softened eye expression show genuine affection but her fully opened-mouth laugh suggests she’s finding Philips comments genuinely hilarious,” James says.
Plus, “The Prince looks in fine form here, pointing at little Charlotte and throwing an impish smile that involves raised brows and a wide eye expression,” she adds.
The entire exchange looks extremely warm and genuine too, James remarks. “This intensity of eye-gaze defines this as a contagious smile, forged to encourage a complimentary response in the other person and Kate’s grin shows he’s found the perfect partner in crime here.”
