Does Prince William Change His Kids’ Diapers?

We all know that Prince William and Kate Middleton are parents to three adorable children and over the years the couple has been honest about raising their little ones. Something people have always questioned though is if they’ve ever changed diapers. Sure they have a full-time nanny but the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge claim to be very hands-on so does that include diaper duty?

Here’s what William just admitted about changing diapers plus his thoughts on being a dad and what rules he and his wife have in place for their kids.

What William thinks the hardest part is

In February 2019, Prince William spoke at an event in London called “Future Dads,” which aims to help men prepare for fatherhood. It was there that the duke revealed he has changed his children’s diapers (or nappies) in the past. Turns out, he’s not the biggest fan of it though because he finds it difficult to dress them afterward since they’re so small.

“It’s never straightforward. The hardest bit is the buttons,” William told soon-to-be dad Rick Karadia-Hudson who was practicing changing a doll.

The prince then went on to say that babies are “so fragile, everything’s so tiny, their little fingers and toes, you do feel like if you move them around too much they’re going to break almost but they don’t … The fear of having a newborn baby that’s very vulnerable and that’s what you spend most of your time worrying about, thinking what do I do? And that’s the thing isn’t it, it’s very daunting of how tiny they are when they first arrive.”

The royal also spoke to the group about how he felt more than five years ago when he became a first time dad.

“Once the lack of sleep starts setting in, the stress levels go up,” William explained. “From a young age, you’re taught to have a vision, have a plan, have a career and all of a sudden babies come along and you have to start thinking about a lot more. I think ladies are a lot more giving, a lot more generous, but guys, to make a success of whatever we’re going to do, we get into a rhythm. It’s such a change, your whole life goes one way and suddenly you’re told to stop in your tracks.”

Parenting rules he has for his kids

As for his parenting style, William and Middleton have a few rules in place that Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis (when he’s older) are expected to follow.

For one, they have banned iPads at home. The royals would much rather their children still play outside or do arts and crafts while they’re young. The Cambridge children can watch some TV though as long as they watch programs together as a family.

Prince William told Radio 1 that when watching a show with his oldest son, “You have to pretend you’re really interested in it because George gets very upset if you’re not showing due diligence to the characters.”

But the most important thing they want their children to do is be open about what their feeling and always communicate that to them.
