Does Princess Eugenie Like Living Right Next to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle?

While Princess Eugenie has always been linked with her sister, Princess Beatrice, her life took a huge shift when she married Jack Brooksbank in October 2018. Not only did she move out of the apartment she shared with Beatrice, but she and her new husband moved into the Ivy Cottage at Kensington Palace. And that also means she acquired some new (and familiar) neighbors — Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Here’s insight into Eugenie’s married life in the cottage and how she probably feels about living so close to Harry and Meghan.

While Eugenie and Beatrice were living together in St. James’s Palace prior to Eugenie’s engagement, in April 2018, People confirmed that Jack Brooksbank and Eugenie moved on to Kensington Palace grounds, Town & Country notes. Ivy Cottage is known as one of the smaller residences, as it only has three bedrooms, but don’t be fooled. It’s still plenty spacious for the newlyweds. And House Beautiful reports renovations to the cottage in 2012 were extreme and totaled over $15 million. While they may be living humbly for royals, they’re living extravagantly compared to the rest of us.

Nottingham cottage, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s home, is also just a stone’s throw away from Ivy Cottage. This means, whether the couples like it or not, they’ll be seeing a whole lot of each other for years to come.

To get an idea on how Eugenie feels about being so close to her cousin, it’s important to take a look at their relationship through the years. Eugenie and Beatrice are the daughters of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson. And Prince Harry and William are the sons of Prince Charles and Princess Diana. We know that Sarah Ferguson and Princess Diana had an ultra-tight relationship while their children were little. This definitely means Eugenie and Harry spent a lot of time together as kids.

Since all the royals grow up close in proximity to one another, it’s common to see them hanging out together as adults, too. And though Eugenie isn’t partake in full-time duties for the royal family, several reports have found her vacationing and attending parties with Jack, Harry, and Meghan even before any of them were married. There have been additional reports of double dates occurring amongst these four royals.

While some tabloids have tried to place Eugenie and Meghan against each other, in truth, it seems they all want the best for each other. As one friend of Eugenie’s tells People, “It is complete love, and there is room for all of them.” And when it came to each of their weddings, the friend also added that they couldn’t have been happier for one another — even if Eugenie’s original wedding date was delayed due to Harry and Meghan’s.

As for Eugenie and Meghan, royal biographer Andrew Morton said the two women bonded “over a shared love of art, dogs and late-night macaroni suppers,” Town & Country reports. And Woman & Home reports another insider said, “Eugenie loves Meghan to bits and believes she is perfect for Harry. They are thick as thieves and may even all go on holiday together soon.” Given this info, it’s safe to assume that Eugenie and Jack are totally excited to live right next to these two royals.

Prince William and Kate are also close by

While Eugenie is close with Harry, she’s also reportedly close with her other older cousin, William. Kate Middleton and Prince William live in a 20-room apartment that’s also just a few seconds away from Ivy Cottage. This is particularly great news if Eugenie ever wants time with their little ones, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
