Does the Queen Like Princess Eugenie’s Husband, Jack Brooksbank?

You may not hear about Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s kids as much as some other royals, but nowadays, Princess Eugenie is getting more attention than ever. This royal is currently ninth from the throne and just married Jack Brooksbank in October 2018. Her wedding was a beautiful celebration, as we all expected. But there’s another question on everyone’s mind — and that’s what the queen thinks about Jack entering the royal family.

Who is Jack Brooksbank?

Eight years ago, Princess Eugenie reportedly first met Jack during a Switzerland ski trip when she was just 20 and Jack was 24. Jack was a waiter at the time while Eugenie was a student — and when they met, they both claim it was love at first sight. He also pursued hospitality instead of a college degree, and while dating Eugenie, he worked as a manager of a high-profile club.

It may not seem like Jack had much connection to royalty prior to Eugenie entering his life, but in actuality, the two are reportedly distant cousins. Additionally, he’s a descendant of the Brooksbank baronets, which gives him more of a royal connection than anyone thought.

The queen doesn’t always develop a fondness for everyone who enters the family — but when it came to Jack, she evidently had no problem giving her granddaughter her blessing. According to Express, when Eugenie told Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip about her engagement, they were thrilled with the news. “Granny actually knew right at the beginning [of the engagement]. She was very happy as was my grandfather,” she said.

It makes sense that the queen would be thrilled for Eugenie considering how close these two are. While the queen has plenty of grandchildren (and even more great-grandchildren on the way), she’s always been close with Eugenie. In fact, several reports have said Eugenie regularly visits her grandmother’s Scottish estate and thinks it’s “a lovely base for Granny and Grandpa to be.”

As for the other royal family members, they’re also big fans of Jack. Prince Andrew has tweeted that he thinks Jack is “an absolutely outstanding young man,” and Sarah Ferguson has also stated how excited she is for her daughter’s future as a married woman. Additionally, Jack’s grandmother also added, “It’s amazing. I would never have thought it for a moment that it was going to happen and we are all very happy,” in regards to the wedding, says The Sun.

Jack still didn’t receive a royal title, however

As much as the royal family loves Eugenie’s husband, he still didn’t get any special title after he tied the knot, however. E! News notes this is likely because Princess Eugenie isn’t a working royal, and she’s also relatively far from the throne. So, instead of Jack receiving a title such as Duke, Earl, or Prince, he’s simply known as Mister.

As for Eugenie, she was able to keep her title, and she was also given the option to take Jack’s surname, making her Princess Eugenie Brooksbank.
