Dog became a bounty hunter after vowing to turn his life around following brushes with the law and an 18-month jail stint in the 1970s. He served 18 months of a five-year jail sentence for first-degree murder. During an interview with Micky Burns, Dog says he was in the wrong place at the wrong time after a drug deal went bad.

The reality star boasts more than 6,000 captures over the past 20 years. He has had many high-profile captures. In 2003 he captured Andrew Luster, heir to the Max Factor fortune. Before that, in 2000, Luster was arrested and released on a $1 million bond. However, he didn’t make his court appearance, and was then caught by Dog.

Controversy

Dog has been at the center of a few controversies during his career. In October 2007, tapes of Dog speaking on the phone with his son, Tucker, were leaked. In the tapes, Dog reportedly used a racial slur to describe Tucker’s girlfriend. He issued a public apology, but A&E pulled his show. A few months later, A&E decided to bring Dog the Bounty Hunter back to the network.

Although they ended up marrying and divorcing different people, they later reconnected and began dating. In addition to children from other marriages, the couple had two children of their own named Bonnie and Garry.
