Dolly Parton Convinced Her Husband to Wear ‘Sexy See-Through Underpants’
Dolly Parton and her husband Carl Dean, who have been married for more than five decades, are often asked for their secret to staying married so long. They have one of the longest celebrity relationships in the entertainment industry. One thing they like to do is keep things playful. Here’s what Parton once said about the time she convinced her husband to wear a pair of “sexy” underwear.

During a 1982 interview with Ladies’ Home Journal, Parton spoke about her marriage. She says she appreciates Dean and his sense of humor. In her book Songteller, Parton says she and her husband love to laugh.
Parton says trust and a sense of humor are key ingredients to their happy marriage. In the book, she tells her readers that she and her husband joke around so much, and they’re so funny that anyone would “roll on the floor” laughing if they saw their interactions. Parton says laughter has been one of the best parts of their relationship.
Parton says she appreciates her husband because he is funny and smart. She says he’s as funny as Steve Martin, but he also has “depth.” “He’s so brilliant and sensitive and good,” she tells Ladies Home Journal.
Dolly Parton convinced her husband to wear “sexy” underwear
Parton isn’t shy when it comes to talking about her love and admiration for her husband. One of the reasons she was attracted to him was that he fit her “type.” During her Ladies’ Home Journal interview, Parton says she finds “tall, skinny men” attractive.
“Built the way I am, I’ve always been fascinated with tall, skinny men; no big muscles, no hair on their chest,” says Parton. “Carl has the smoothest skin and not an ounce of fat on his body.”
Parton says she tried to convince Dean to wear “sexy” underwear when they first got married. He declined at first but later agreed.
“When we first got married, I always tried to get him into those sexy little see-through, mesh underpants,” says Parton. “But he wouldn’t wear them. Finally, my feelings got hurt, so he put ’em on.”
Parton says her husband likes it when she wears provocative underwear. She says he likes her best when she wears hot pants. “Carl also buys me sexy underwear, and for some reason, he loves me in hot pants, especially when I lose weight,” says Parton. “He’ll say, now go put on them hot pants…”
Dolly Parton says she is driven by ‘God, music, and sex’
In her autobiography Dolly: My Life and Other Unfinished Business, Parton admits sex is one of the things that drives her. She says during her entire life, she has wanted to know more about, and has been driven by, “God, music, and sex.” She jokes that the order might change over time without warning.
