Donald Trump and His Children: 30 Photos of Their Tight Family Bond

When it comes to controversial political figures, there are few presidents more polarizing than Donald Trump. But there’s one thing for sure: The Trump family is as tight as can be. With the five siblings all assisting their father with his presidential decisions, we can tell they’re ultra close. And it seems as if they’ve all always had a fantastic relationship with one another.

Here are 30 photos of Donald Trump Jr., Eric, Ivanka, Tiffany, and Barron showcasing just how close they are with their famous dad.

1. Donald Trump’s eldest son, Don Jr., was born in 1977

Most fathers have a strong connection to their firstborn — and such is certainly the case with Donald Trump and Donald Trump Jr. Born in 1977, Don Jr.’s childhood was hectic at best, as his father was busily building his empire and his mother, Ivana Trump, was busy helping out with her husband’s ventures any way that she could, New York Magazine comments. And while he could have followed the rich wild-child stereotype some may have expected, Don Jr. learned to grow into his own. As a shy kid, he developed a sense of autonomy and his own hobbies to occupy his time.

2. Finding time together was difficult early on

Donald Trump Jr. as a child with father Donald Trump

As noted before, the late ’70s were a busy time for Donald. He was busily trying to grow his empire and left Don Jr. in the care of two Irish nannies and Ivana’s Czech parents, New York Magazine notes. Milos and Maria Zelnicek lived in the Trump Tower for half the year and helped greatly with Don Jr.’s upbringing.

Though his father wasn’t always the easiest to access, Don Jr. still spoke of him fondly in hindsight. “My father is a very hardworking guy, and that’s his focus in life, so I got a lot of the paternal attention that a boy wants and needs from my grandfather,” he said.

Next: There’s a point when Don Jr. wouldn’t speak to his father for a year.

3. Don Jr.’s rough patch with his father seemed unmendible

When Don Jr. was just 12, he was forced into the public eye in a way he never saw coming. New York Magazine explains when his parents got divorced, Ivana was granted full custody — and Don Jr. learned to blame the divorce all on his dad. This eventually led to cruelty from kids at school, and he refused to speak to his father for a year.

This rough patch eventually gave way, however, and Don Jr. is able to look at the events of the past with a fresh perspective now. He doesn’t hold any resentment against Donald, and the two are closer than ever now.

The Trump family is worth billions, but there’s a reason all of the kids turned out to be well-adjusted adults despite their wealth and public scrutiny. New York Magazine notes Don Jr. credits his parents for helping him see the value of a dollar. He said he started working at just 13 years old as a dock attendant making minimum wage. “If there was something we wanted, we had to earn it. Even in college, we were very fiscally responsible,” he said. “I had 300 bucks a month; anything I wanted beyond that, I had to work for.”

5. It’s no surprise Don Jr. works for his father now

They didn’t always see eye to eye, but Don Jr. told New York Magazine that working for his father felt inevitable to him. And though none of his other family members thought he’d ever want to work with the family, he says he’s looked up to his father in many ways, especially when it comes to business.

He does note he feels he handles life differently than his father, though he respects that Donald Sr. has always stayed true to who he is. “I can be my own person and not have to live under his shadow,” he said. “I think I’m such a different person, it’s hard to even compare us.”

6. Don Jr. keeps his father close to his own children, too

Don Jr. has gathered plenty of attention on his own these days thanks to his high-profile divorce from estranged wife, Vanessa. But sources close to the couple state they’re doing what they can to protect their children from public scrutiny, People reports. Perhaps the painful reminder of his own parents’ divorce is making him extra wary of how his kids are treated.

As for Donald, it’s clear he loves his grandkids. There are tons of photos of him smiling and playing with his extended family, including Don Jr.’s five kids.

Next: There’s no doubt Donald has a special connection to his second child.

7. Ivanka has been the golden child since her birth in 1981

Ivanka Trump as a child with father Donald Trump

As the second-born Trump and the first daughter, Ivanka was a go-getter from the start. She even told GQ in a 2007 interview that since birth, she knew exactly how she wanted to spend her life — and that was helping her father and advancing the Trump brand. “I can’t remember ever wanting to do anything else. Ever. Not even as a little kid. I feel like somehow I’m genetically programmed,” she said.

I’s no secret her father always believed in her greatness as well. He’s said in the past that she’s the star of the family.

8. Ivanka remembers her father picking up the phone for her every time she called

He may not have been as physically present as other dads, but Ivanka always understood that her father was doing what was necessary for his business, GQ notes. She also knew that whenever she’d call him, he’d answer, no matter how busy he was. Ivanka learned from an early age that she could count on her dad — and this made them great business partners early on.

As she learned more about the business, Donald also learned to lean on Ivanka for help. By her early 20s, she was handling her own deals for her father.

It’s no secret that Donald Trump may not listen to all of the advice he’s given, but when it comes to Ivanka, they have enough mutual trust that he really listens to what she has to say. Bravo notes she said, “Part of the reason we have such a good relationship is because he respects me and because I’m candid in my opinions and I share them — solicited or otherwise.”

The special bond between Ivanka and Donald isn’t lost on the other Trumps, either. Donald Jr., Tiffany, and Eric Trump have all noted how Ivanka was the favorite amongst them.

For all of her success, Ivanka credits her parents for instilling business knowledge and the idea of hard work into her from an early age. She told GQ she used to tag along with her father to his construction sites to see how he got the job done. But more importantly, she reminds us all that Donald didn’t hand anything to her that she didn’t work for. She even had a mortgage (for a price she negotiated with her father for) when she lived in her Trump Park Avenue apartment.

Next: Nowadays, she’s still offering advice to her dad.

11. She assists her father greatly in the White House

It’s no surprise that Ivanka — and Donald’s other kids — play a huge role in the White House. As for what she’s responsible for, she’s his senior adviser, which really shows her father’s trust in her ability to make decisions and connect with the American people. Town & Country also notes this means part of her duties include sitting in for Donald with other world leaders.

Despite her impressive title, she still says she doesn’t like to get too political, though. “I feel blessed just being part of the ride from day one and before,” she said.

Despite protests, numerous poor ratings, and controversial statements made by the president, Ivanka continues to show her undying loyalty and commitment to her father. Instead of focusing on the negative, she says she likes to zero-in on areas where she can add “positive value” and “contribute to the agenda.”

And her father gives her much-deserved praise for her help as well. “I’m very proud of my daughter Ivanka, always have been from day one. I have to tell you that,” he said at the G-20 Summit in Germany.

With the cool presence of Don Jr. and Ivanka’s inherent strength and dominance, it’s easy for the public eye to skip right over Eric Trump. (He also stands as the middle child, as he was born in 1984.) With that said, we shouldn’t count Eric out just yet, as he’s a key member of the Trump brand and also incredibly close to his siblings. Donald also trusts his third child to the degree he trusts his first two, as evidenced by the fact that he heads the Trump Organization with Don Jr, AM New York notes.

Next: Donald may not give out much public praise for his kids, but he did commend Eric for this one thing.

14. Donald has praised Eric’s charity in the past

Like the rest of the Trumps, Eric found his independence at a young age. Donald, Don Jr., and Ivanka all attended the University of Pennsylvania for their undergrad education, but Eric chose to head to Georgetown University with his. He earned his degree in finance and management and then later created the Eric Trump Foundation in 2007, Elite Daily notes.

The foundation gave around $1.5 million to charities per year, and though it was shut down after Donald was elected president due to conflicts of interest, Eric’s father still showed his pride and called him “wonderful” via Twitter.

Eric’s usually not one for the spotlight — that is, until it comes to defending his father. The Guardian explains Donald came under fire after insulting Central American and African nations, but Eric quickly came to his father’s side. Eric insisted that his father held no racial bias and was only interested in boosting the economy. He even went on to claim, “He’s the least racist person I have ever met in my entire life.”

You’ve seen him hunting big game with his older brother, and it’s clear that Eric admires Don Jr. just as much as he looks up to his father. And their tight bond all started during their parent’s divorce, New York Magazine notes. Eric said he knew the least regarding the divorce as it was happening due to his age. But thanks to his brother acting “like a mentor” toward him (and Ivanka taking Eric under her wing during the hard times), they all grew close. Oddly enough, Ivanka also noted it made each of them closer to Donald, too.

17. Eric has said his father could be more understanding

While Eric agrees that the divorce brought all three of the kids closer to Donald, he also mentioned to New York Magazine that if there was anything he’d change about his dad, it was that he’d be more understanding. Donald has mentioned in the past that he doesn’t understand the hunting obsession both Eric and Don Jr. share. And when Eric visited Hawaii instead of a Trump resort elsewhere, he also didn’t see the point.

It seems Eric’s father has come around in recent years, however — and the Trump kids don’t hold anything against Donald. It’s just another one of his quirks the kids laugh about amongst themselves.

Next: You may not see Eric in the spotlight as much anymore, but he’s still around.

18. Eric may not be as present as the other Trumps, but he’s just as loved

It’s true that you probably saw Eric more a few years ago than you see him now. AM New York reminds us he used to be the task adviser on Donald’s hit reality show The Apprentice. But now that he helps his father out and has a family of his own to take care of, he’s become one of the least controversial members of the family. E! News also notes that his current wife, Laura, feels totally at home with the Trumps, too.

Eric, Ivanka, and Don Jr. aren’t the only Trump kids, but through family turmoil and victories, they’ve certainly grown close. And even Ivana, their mother, notes how much Donald loves his children — whether he shows it outwardly or not.

“He would love them, he would kiss them and hold them, but then he would give it to me because he had no idea what to do,” Ivana told New York Magazine of Donald. But, as they aged, Ivana added that “he’s starting to learn them, teach them, and now it’s going to be his thing.”

20. Tiffany Trump is the only child of Donald and Marla Maples

While it’s usually Ivanka, Eric, and Don Jr. in the spotlight, we can’t forget about Tiffany. Elite Daily reminds us Tiffany didn’t actually grow up close to her father, as Donald and Marla Maples, her mother, divorced when she was just 3. After the divorce, she moved to California and was raised totally out of the spotlight by her mom.

There’s no doubt this put a strain on her relationship with her father early on. But in recent years, it definitely seems like Tiffany and Donald were able to mend the past and put it behind them.

Next: Here’s Tiffany’s favorite memory of her father.

21. Tiffany has fond memories of her father sneaking her candy

While she may not be spending too much time in Washington, D.C., Donald is definitely still proud of Tiffany. In 2014, after Tiffany graduated from University of Pennsylvania (the same school as her father and a few of her other siblings), Donald told People, “She’s got all A’s at Penn, so we’re proud of her.”

And Tiffany holds fond memories of her father as well. She’s told People in the past that though her mother is very healthy, her father used to sneak her Almond Joys without her mom noticing.

22. She showed support for him during his presidential campaign

She may not have played a huge role in her father’s election campaign, but Tiffany still expressed her support. Town & Country reports she appeared on 60 Minutes with her siblings ahead of the election — and she had a number of nice things to say about Donald. “I mean, I don’t think we can really prepare for our father becoming president. But we were all there together with everyone that’s worked so hard,” she said. “And my dad has worked so hard. And it’s just — it’s really awe-inspiring.”

It’s not every day that we hear Tiffany Trump address the nation — but back in 2016, she did just that at the Republican National Convention. And Town & Country notes she took the opportunity to highlight how great of a man and a father she thinks her dad is. She noted that on the surface, she sees Donald as “so friendly, so considerate, so funny, and so real.” She then went on to say that she “admired” her father her entire life. “I love him with all my heart.”

Next: There’s no doubt her schooling success makes her father proud.

24. Her drive and success thus far make Donald proud

Not only did Tiffany do well at UPenn, but she went on to Georgetown for a post-grad degree, Town & Country notes. And there was even talk that the young Trump daughter was considering Harvard for additional schooling. There’s no doubt that her drive and success make her father proud (even though it seems like she may lean toward the more liberal side of politics). It seems like since the beginning of her father’s presidency, their relationship has only strengthened.

Next: We can’t forget about the youngest Trump child.

25. Barron, the youngest Trump, was born in 2006

Barron Trump may be the youngest of the Trump kids by far, but we imagine he’ll be just as immersed in the Trump brand as his siblings. He was born in 2006, making him just 12 years old now, and he’s the only child of Donald and Melania. With that said, we see him with fair frequency accompanying both his mother and father on official business, so we imagine he’s getting the hang of being the president’s son.

Next: Here’s how Barron’s life compares to his siblings’ lives.

26. Barron’s childhood has always differed from the other Trump’s

The other Trump kids grew up with a rich dad, but Barron is the first of them to go through adolescence in the White House. And since all of his siblings are grown with families of their own, we also imagine Donald has more time with his son than he may have had with his other kids.

“Barron’s terrific,” Trump said of his fifth child back in 2015 to E! News. “He’s a great boy, he’s working hard, he’s starting the school thing — you know, the beginning of the process, and he’s going to be a very good boy.”

Next: There’s a reason Melania calls Barron “Little Donald.”

27. Melania Trump says he takes after his father

It’s easy to see the resemblance of Barron and Donald just by looking at them, but there are additional reasons Melania sees her son as a mini-me of her husband. She’s noted in the past that Barron enjoys dressing up in suits just like his dad. Not only that, but he also enjoys building Lego towers, which fits right in line with the Trump brand. And it’s clear both Barron and Donald share a love of golf, which will surely bring them even closer together in the future.

Next: When it comes to personality, like father, like son.

28. Donald’s personality is certainly wearing off on Barron

The pride runs deep in the Trump family. Not only does Barron seem to follow in his father’s footsteps when it comes to activities he enjoys, but we’re getting the sense that his personality may also develop like Donald’s. Melania has said in the past that Barron is “a strong-minded, very special, smart boy. He is independent and opinionated and knows exactly what he wants.” There’s no doubt this gives his dad something to be proud of, too.

Though we may not see the entire Trump family together too often, it’s clear that when they do all gather, there’s nothing but love. “A great throwback and a cool family shot to wish my dad @realdonaldtrump a very happy birthday,” Don Jr. wrote with this photo on Instagram. “Watching what you’re accomplishing every day makes me more and more proud of you.”

Barron wasn’t around too often for the 2016 campaign trail, but he was there to embrace his family on election night and was again in attendance at the Republican National Convention. Perhaps we’ll see more of him with his father in the future.

Whether it’s business or television or the presidency, there’s no doubt we’ll be hearing about any number of the Trumps for years to come. Donald told New York Magazine that he believes his children are close to him because of their investment in business. And he also mentioned, “I’ll tell you what I’ve learned: Children are tough. Much tougher than people think.” But in the end, he couldn’t continue his brand or live a successful life without his family. And as far as his children are concerned, they know that business aside, their father would do anything for them, too.
