Is Dorinda Medley Returning To ‘RHONY’? Bravo Is Reportedly ‘Open’ To Idea
Dorinda Medley was axed from The Real Housewives of New York City after six seasons. Ahead of the season 12 finale of the show, Medley confirmed she was leaving the reality series. The fan outcry poured in on social media when the announcement was made and viewers might be happy to know all hope is not lost. A new report suggests that Bravo is “open” to having the TV personality back but only under one condition.
Why is Dorinda Medley leaving?
Medley quickly became a fan favorite when she joined the cast of RHONY in season 7. Her outspoken personality and funny one-liners were welcomed with open arms on a show that needed a revamp. Medley opened up about her struggle with coping with the loss of her husband as well as served as a shoulder to cry on for her co-stars. It was the Bravo star that broke the news of her departure on social media.
“What a journey this has been. I have laughed and cried and tried to Make it Nice…,” she posted on Instagram. “But all things must come to an end. This was a great outlet for me to heal when my late husband Richard passed away.”
After 6 seasons holding an apple, Medley said being on the show helped her learn a lot.
“I have met so many interesting people and learned so much about myself, about life, and about women along the way,” Medley continued. “Thank you to Bravo and NBC for the incredible ride and to my cast mates for constant stimulation and entertainment. I wish you all health, happiness, and success.”
Is Bravo having second thoughts?
Medley didn’t mention a specific reason as to why she was leaving RHONY after being a fixture for six years. However, there have been reports that her attitude towards the other ladies has been increasingly toxic.
“The reunion was the final straw,” an insider told Entertainment Tonight. “Dorinda was very aggravated all season long and it was too difficult to work with her.”
Throughout season 12, the ladies have called out Medley on her behaviour and why she was irritated to easily. However, Medley never acknowledged or opened up about any issues.
“It’s obvious she needs to work on herself,” the source added. “The reunion was rough and she wouldn’t acknowledge her bad behavior.”
A new report from Page Six says that executives at the cable network are “open” to having her back.
“Dorinda is on a pause and the door remains open,” the source told the news outlet.
The article suggests that if Medley “cleans up her act” after becoming a “mean drunk,” she could possibly return to RHONY.
For now, fans will have to live without Medley when RHONY returns for season 13. Andy Cohen has already teased they are working on the new season and a cast shakeup is underway.
“We’re working on next season,” Cohen told Us Weekly. “I’m excited for what we have planned.”
There’s still no word as to how many new Housewives will be added to the new season or when it would start filming.
The Real Housewives of New York City continues to air on Thursday nights at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
