‘Dr. Pimple Popper’: Dr. Sandra Lee Swears By This Affordable Face Wash
TLC’s popular Dr. Pimple Popper, aka dermatologist Sandra Lee, MD, follows the journeys of patients unable to live full lives due to skin conditions that run the gamut from embarrassing to agonizing.
Since 2018, her hit show has welcomed patients seeking Dr. Lee’s help after other doctors have tried and failed, arriving doubtful of her ability to change their situations. By episode’s end, in most cases, they leave truly transformed and unburdened of the hindrance they arrived with.
Dr. Lee has seen and touched it all in her California-based practice. Now she reveals one of her favorite facial washes, and it’s affordable, too.
Celebrities love Dr. Pimple Popper, too
Even celebrities declare their love for her.
As Dr. Lee told ABC News, “I think Selena Gomez got interviewed by this CEO of Instagram and [was] asked … the most interesting page that she follows. And she said my page. I felt like, really, that there was a change. And then all of a sudden I was okay. And so thank you, Selena.”
On top of all that celebrity love, Dr. Lee recently appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show, with fellow guest Tracee Ellis-Ross, for an extra dose of pimple-bursting worship.
Clarkson announced to the studio audience, “She’s going to show us how to get rid of those zits, y’all! Ross suited up with gloves to act as assistant, and got her Popaholic on.
She has her own line of acne treatment products
Dr. Lee has had her own line of acne fighting products called SLMD (Sandra Lee M.D.) Skin-Care for a few years now. In the summer of 2019, however, she announced Target would begin offering them as well.
Her collection includes seven acne treatment items. She hand-picked the products based on the medications she prescribes her patients. When you use her acne treatment products, it’s as though you’re getting her zit treatment right from her prescription pad.
Her favorite facial wash
Filming a recent facial care video for Harpers Bazaar, Dr. Lee appeared sans makeup and even without her usual stick-on eyelashes. We’re talking full pink-fluffy-robe mode. She took viewers through her skincare regimen, complete with dermatological tips and tricks for getting the most out of products she likes and uses daily.
In the video, she uses many of her own products. But she shared her favorite drugstore facial wash: it’s CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser, which is a gentle wash that almost any skin type can use. It’s also pretty affordable and available at most drugstores.
In an interview with Today, New York-based dermatologist Dr. Joshua Zeichner agreed with Dr. Lee.
“This wash is a nonsoap cleansing lotion that can be used across almost all skin types, including those with sensitive skin,” said Zeichner. “It contains moisturizing ingredients to hydrate the skin, along with skin barrier repairing ceramides. Think of ceramides like spackle that sits between your skin cell tiles.”
So there you have it. Now we all know how to get gorgeous skin like Dr. Lee’s.
