“We’re so happy and thankful to announce that we’re expecting a baby!” Joy-Anna told People. “Every child is such a previous gift from God. I’m most looking forward to watching Austin as a dad and raising children together with him.”
The Duggar family also posted the video on the Duggar Family website with the message, “Exciting News from Joy-Anna and Austin! We are so blessed to share that Joy and Austin are expecting!! We know they will be such wonderful parents! We can’t wait to meet this little one!”
The “Counting On” star and her husband, 23, became engaged earlier this year and went on to tie the knot on May 23. 2017. They spent their honeymoon in Switzerland and are now home in Arkansas living near Joy-Anna’s childhood home.
The new baby will have a large handful of cousins, as Joy-Anna’s sisters Jill and Jessa have two kids each, and her brother Josh and his wife, Anna, are expecting their fifth child.
After the Joshua Duggar molestation controversy hit the news, TLC’s “19 Kids and Counting” was canceled, and the spin-off, another reality TV show called “Counting On” began airing in 2015. The show features 16 of the 17 children of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar.
The spin-off follows the lives of the older Duggar children, with a large focus on Jill and Jessa Duggar. Joshua is not featured, but his wife Anna and their four children have appeared in several episodes. Events that have been featured on the show include the weddings of Jinger Duggar and Joy-Anna, the engagement of Joseph Duggar, and the pregnancy announcements of Jill and Jessa.
Season Four of the series is set to start airing on TLC on September 11, 2017.
