‘DWTS’ Claims Taryn Manning Was Declined to Join the Cast

Celebrities often reveal they were asked to do Dancing with the Stars, but declined. However, this time the show is responding publicly. A rep responded to Taryn Manning claiming she was asked repeatedly to do the show but turned it down.

There were multiple big changes with Dancing with the Stars returning. It was announced Tyra Banks will be hosting instead of Erin Andrews and Tom Bergeron. Derek Hough also became a judge and took Len Goodman’s place.

The cast was revealed and there was one person who joined later. Catfish host, Nev Schulman talked about getting short notice to join the cast.

“I only got the call a week ago. Basically the call was, ‘We want you for the show. We need you to say yes today so that we can announce you tomorrow on Good Morning America and then fly to L.A. as soon as possible,” he told Entertainment Tonight.

His rehearsal time for the first dance was shorter because of this. “I only just got to L.A. a couple days ago,” he revealed. “Obviously, for safety purposes, I haven’t even started rehearsing in the studio yet because I’m waiting to get my test back to make sure that I’m COVID-free.”

This season has several actors in the cast. Anne Heche from Six Days and Seven Nights is dancing with Keo Motsepe. Jesse Metcalfe from Desperate Housewives is partnered with Sharna Burgess. One Day At a Time actor Justina Machado is partnered with Sasha Farber.

But Manning from Orange Is the New Black claimed she turned down the show. “I’ve been asked to be on [the ABC hit] many times,” she said according to Page Six.

“I have this weird phobia that [competing on the show] means you’re a has-been, and I never want to believe that’s the case,” Manning explained. “Maybe it’s my own stuff, but, yeah, I’m definitely a good dancer.”

A rep from Dancing with the Stars responded to Manning’s claim. The rep told Page Six she wasn’t offered a spot in the competition.

“Taryn claims she’s been asked to join the cast ‘many times,’ however, we have never asked Taryn to be part of the show,” the rep said. “Her representation attempted to pitch her to us a while back and we kindly passed. So her claim that she was asked to join DWTS once, never mind many times, is completely false.”

It looks like the parties aren’t agreeing on what really happened. Either way, fans probably shouldn’t expect the actor to be dancing on the show any time soon.
