‘DWTS’ Fans Think Hannah Brown Is Getting Horrible Songs

When Hannah Brown first joined the cast of Dancing With The Stars she was excited for a new kind of reality TV experience–one that didn’t involve her love life.

“I am so excited about this to continue sharing my life with America, but in a different way and that’s through dance. So being very vulnerable and sharing my story that doesn’t have to involve a man,” she told Entertainment Tonight when the season first began.

Hannah brown is struggling on ‘Dancing With The Stars’

But, as she’s been open about, Brown hasn’t been having the easiest time competing.

“This experience has been harder than I could have ever imagined. When I decided to do DWTS I thought it would be a fun way to channel all my energy after a whirlwind experience as the Bachelorette,” Brown recently wrote on Instagram after getting some tough criticism from Carrie Ann Inaba.

She continued: ” […] I came into this experience a little broken and confused—more than I’ve shared. Everyday has brought its challenges with my past, my fears, and the uncomfortableness of opening myself up again to be judged on something VERY scary like learning a new skill to perform each week. Last night was really defeating for me and a lot of suppressed emotions started to surface from this amazing, but grueling experience.”

This experience has been harder than I could have ever imagined. When I decided to do DWTS I thought it would be a fun way to channel all my energy after a whirlwind experience as the Bachelorette. I was hopeful that the confidence I gained this year to take pride in the woman I have become would have the opportunity to shine, and I’d feel that reboot in my spirit after it took a bit of a beating after my bachelorette season. I came into this experience a little broken and confused—more than I’ve shared. Everyday has brought its challenges with my past, my fears, and the uncomfortableness of opening myself up again to be judged on something VERY scary like learning a new skill to perform each week. Last night was really defeating for me and a lot of suppressed emotions started to surface from this amazing, but grueling experience. I want to be me. I want to be real. I feel my best when I feel like I have the opportunity to share my heart with others. But I know that’s been lacking in what has been seen on DWTS. It’s true there is a disconnect. I am busting my ass. I am giving this my all. It’s my focus and passion right now. But each week I fall flat. I’ve gotten to the point of being so anxious before I perform that I can’t completely enjoy it like I wish and know I could. I KNOW I have a lot more I can give. I want to be able to feel free and confident to dance with my whole heart. I’m working on getting there. I’m not throwing a pity party. I can take criticism and understand hard work…and I also know that my attitude has to change to rise above this slump I’m in. But this is real life. These are real emotions. It’s okay to be grateful and positive, while also acknowledging the hard days we all have. It’s so important to think positively, but it’s also important to acknowledge and feel all the feels. This pressure to pretend is not good for anyone. That’s how this crazy cycle of perfectionism continues to exist in a lot of us. I’m blown away by the support I see and feel from all of you who love me through it all. So thank you— here’s to another opportunity to grow. See y’all next Monday!

Even before she knew this season of DWTS was going to be so hard on her, Brown promised to be open and honest with her fans throughout the entirety of her journey (and it’s safe to say she’s delivered).

“I think I was put into this position for some reason and I think people need to see people with this platform being really authentic and real and showing real emotions. And I don’t know how to be anything other than that. And so I’m OK with it,” she told ET.

‘Dancing With The Stars’ fans think Hannah Brown keeps getting ‘the worst’ songs

Some Dancing With The Stars fans believe Brown’s occasional disconnect could be, in part, due to the songs she’s been dancing to this season.

In the comments of the reality star’s most recent dance on YouTube, the show’s fans seem to agree that Brown keeps dancing to less-than-ideal songs.

“Why is DWTS sabotaging her with literally the worst song choices for the categories?” wrote one fan.

“ok its time to give her a song that ACTUALLY goes w the dance style. Major props to alan,” wrote another.

“Mad props to Hannah for pushing through possibly the most horrible series of song choices given to any contestant that has ever been on the show,” commented another.

“Why didn’t she get a freaking halloween song…someone literally got the Time Warp wtf,” questioned another.

“So at this point she’s never going to get a good song huh?” asked another.

The comments go on and on like this.

We’ll just have to wait and see if Brown gets better songs in the weeks to come or if she’s doomed to continue receiving “the most horrible series of song choices given to any contestant that has ever been on the show.”
