Elizabeth Banks Said Ariana Grande’s Been ‘So Perfect’ To Work With On the ‘Charlie’s Angels’ Soundtrack
The new Charlie’s Angels cast is fire and Ariana Grande executive produced the soundtrack. The tunes will have you channeling your inner “angel” in no time. Actress Elizabeth Banks recently opened up about Grande’s contribution to the project.
When does ‘Charlie’s Angels’ come out?
In 2000, the first adaptation of Charlie’s Angels (based on the ‘70s TV series), starred Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz, and Lucy Liu. The new version stars Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska, with Elizabeth Banks directing and she also wrote the screenplay and stars as Susan Bosley in the film.
Kano. Sam Claflin, Noah Centineo, Djimon Hounsou, and Patrick Stewart also star in the movie, which releases November 15, 2019. Fans remain divided. Former angel, Lucy Liu, fully supports the remake.
“I think it’s wonderful,” Liu said during a panel for Television Critics Association. “I think there’s a reason why there’s many iterations of that show that we made into a movie that then became a show that then became a movie. There’s a reason why people are attracted to it.”
Banks told Entertainment Tonight this version is, ” a continuation of everything that’s come before. “So the angels from — Drew [Barrymore], Lucy [Liu] and Cameron [Diaz] — that trio, they exist in our world. They were angels, they still are angels — the original angels and Charlie’s still Charlie and Bosley’s just a rank now.”
ET also got Stewart’s thoughts on having Banks direct the film.”Liz is a storyteller, she’s like a compulsive artist,” she said. “And she has the balls to do it in a way that’s unique to her.”
Who performs on the ‘Charlie’s Angels’ soundtrack?
With Grande taking the lead on the film’s entire setlist, you won’t have to be a Charlie’s Angels fan to get excited about the music. Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, and Lana Del Rey all collaborated on the single, “Don’t Call Me Angel,” for the movie. It released September 13, along with a music video.
Grande worked on the soundtrack with Savan Kotecha, Max Martin, and Ilya, and Hannah Lux Davis directed the music video for “Don’t Call Me Angel. Grande’s Instagram teases various clips from the onset performances by Cyrus, herself, and Del Rey, wearing dark wings.
Here’s how Elizabeth Banks really feels about working Ariana Grande’s soundtrack for the film
As far as Banks’s thoughts on the soundtrack, she’s a happy camper. “Ariana delivered!” she said. “Ariana Grande came in really early on to executive produce the soundtrack for the movie. I was really obsessed with the Black Panther soundtrack, and how one artist sort of took over and really represented not just the theme of the movie but the audience for the movie.”
She continued: “She’s just so perfect and she really loves Charlie’s Angels. She’s been a dream.”
As for how the “anthemic” song with three incredible artists portrayed the new vibe of the movie and its characters, Banks remains impressed.
“I have three totally different angels and three totally different, incredible singers. Just that it all came together, I’m blown away.”
Charlie’s Angels fan or not, this soundtrack may inspire you to be your own crime-fighting hero (in black angel wings, of course).
